Tennessee vs. Missouri 2023 College Football Week 11 Odds, Preview & Pick
Important game in the SEC East Division on Saturday as No. 14 Tennessee visits No. 16 Missouri. Unbeaten and No. 1 Georgia would win the East if the Vols beat the Tigers, and UT is a short favorite on the NCAAF odds.
Tennessee and Missouri are both tied for second in the SEC East, two games in the loss column behind No. 1 and unbeaten Georgia. The Vols still have a shot at the division because they still play the Dawgs, but it’s highly unlikely that UGA loses twice to hand the East to Tennessee.

Why Bet on the Tennessee Volunteers?
Tennessee (7-2) was a 59-3 winner out of conference against UConn on Saturday. UT rolled up 650 yards of total offense and scored a school-record three defensive touchdowns Quarterbacks Joe Milton III (11-14-254, 2 TDs) and Nico Iamaleava (5-9-86, 1 TD) combined for three touchdown passes, as UT completed 21 of 31 attempts through the air for 375 yards. Sophomore wideout Squirrel White led all receivers with 94 yards on two catches and an 83-yard touchdown. Senior wide receiver Ramel Keyton hauled in two balls for 81 yards, with a 60-yard scoring play to his credit.
Along with the wide receivers, UT continues to get solid production from its tight ends, who enter this week tied for second in the SEC with six touchdown receptions. The Vols’ tight end duo of Jacob Warren and McCallan Castles have had at least one receiving touchdown in four of the last five games.
Running back Jaylen Wright continued to lead the Vols’ punishing run game. He carried eight times for 113 yards and a touchdown. It marked his sixth time over 100 yards in 2023, tying him for the sixth-most in UT single season history. It also stands as the most by a Vol since Jalen Hurd had six in 2015. Wright joined teammate Jabari Small as the second Vol to eclipse 2,000 career rushing yards this season. Wright’s career tally now stands at 2,110 and ranks 15th in Tennessee history. In their last three games, the Vols have outscored opponents 37-3 in the opening stanza (at Alabama 13-0, at Kentucky 10-0, UConn 14-3).
With Saturday’s win, Tennessee secured a perfect non-conference regular season record for the second straight season, for the first time since 2016-17. The Vols improved to 17-3 at home under Josh Heupel, outscoring opponents 903-389, an average margin of 25.7 points per game. Tennessee has won 14 consecutive games in Neyland Stadium, a streak that dates to Nov. 20, 2021 vs. South Alabama. It’s the third-longest home winning streak in the country, behind Georgia (23) and Michigan (20).
Tennessee is ranked in the FBS top 25 in scoring offense (34.8 – 22nd), scoring defense (18.4 – 21st), total offense (466.4 – 13th), total defense (319.6 – 21st), rushing offense (227.8 – 3rd) and rushing defense (97.3 – 13th). The Vols are one of only four FBS teams who are in the FBS top 15 in both rushing offense and rushing defense, joining Air Force, Oregon and UCLA. They lead the SEC in both categories.
The Vols are 6-5 all-time vs. Missouri and have won the past four. It’s the first time that both teams are ranked at the time of the meeting. UT’s Heupel is 2-0 vs. Mizzou as a head coach, and the Vols have outscored the Tigers a combined 128-48 putting up at least 62 points and 600 yards in each.
“At the end of the day, they’re a good football team. They play well in all three phases,” Heupel said on Monday. “They’re smart, tough and competitive. That’s why they’ve played the way they have throughout the course of the season. I can tell that they’re prepared every single week. We know that we are going to get their best. It’s our job to make sure that we are at our best too.”
Heupel served as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2016-17. Heupel’s 2017 offense at Missouri still holds the program record for touchdowns scored in a single season (63).
Why Bet on the Missouri Tigers?
Missouri’s chances of winning it ended Saturday in a 30-21 loss at Georgia, although the game was tied 10-10 at the half. It was Georgia’s 26th consecutive victory, its 24th straight at home, and it’s 10th in a row over Mizzou. MU was on the move near midfield when Brady Cook’s short pass intended for Brett Norfleet was intercepted by DT Nazir Stackhouse. The Tiger defense stopped Georgia before Peyton Woodring kicked a 48-yard FG to up the lead to 30-21 with 3:57 left.
Missouri (7-2) had one last gasp, but a deep pass intended for Theo Wease Jr., who led MU receivers with five catches for 90 yards, was intercepted by Javon Bullard with 1:36 remaining in the game, and the Bulldogs ran out the clock. Cook completed 14-of-30 passes for 212 yards and ran for 39. He hurt Georgia with his legs in the first half, rushing for more yards (57) than the Georgia team (50), but the Bulldogs adjusted in the second half to neutralize Cook’s running threat.
Cody Schrader punched in a 12-yard score in the fourth quarter, marking his sixth consecutive game with a touchdown. He finished the day with 112 yards on 22 carries, good for his fifth 100-yard game this season and the 21st of his career. Harrison Mevis (364) eclipsed Jeff Wolfert’s (362) Mizzou scoring record with the 76th and 77th field goals of his career to go along with a successful PAT attempt.
After going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day on red-zone opportunities, the Tiger offense has now converted 33 consecutive red-zone scoring opportunities dating back to the season opener vs. South Dakota. The Tigers are 37-of-38 inside the opponent’s 20-yard line this season, which leads the nation. Mizzou is now 0-18 all-time against an AP No. 1 ranked team.
