Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week (June 27th, 2022)

ATP – Wimbledon – London, England

Lorenzo Sonego vs. Denis Kudla

Slight favorite Denis Kudla hasn’t played well in his last couple of matches. Kudla beat Marc Othman Ktiri in his first match at the Mallorca Championships. But he failed in his second match.

Lorenzo Sonego is Wimbledon’s twenty-seventh ranked player. He beat James Duckworth 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-1) in his first match at the Rothesay International Eastbourne. But in his second match, Alex de Minaur knocked Duckworth out of the tournament. Still, Lorenzo has a shot to win this. Sonego is the pick.

Tennis Betting Pick: Lorenzo Sonego -106

Denis Shapovalov vs. Arthur Rinderknech

Chalk Denis Shapovalov did not have a great Mallorca Championship first match. Benjamin Bonzi beat Shapovalov 4-6, 1-6 to knock Denis from the tournament. But although Shapovalov didn’t play well at the Mallorca, he should have no trouble getting past Arthur Rinderknech. The underdog in this fell to Marc-Andrea Heusler in his last. The problem is that the match happened at the Terra Wortmann Open, which isn’t one of the top tournaments on the ATP schedule. The favorite wins.

Tennis Betting Pick: Denis Shapovalov -286

Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune +114 vs. Marcus Giron -133

Nodskov Rune lost in his first match in the last tournament he played, the Rothesay International Eastbourne. The slight underdog in this played well, though, losing the second set via a tiebreaker.

Marcus Giron played great at the Mallorca Championships. Giron made it to the quarterfinals before bowing out in a loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Giron pushed Tsitsipas, losing in 4 sets. The chalk offers much better odds than he should.

Tennis Betting Pick: Marcus Giron -133

WTA – Wimbledon – London, England

Donna Vekic vs. Jessica Pegula

At the Rothesay International in her last, Vekic played great tennis. The dog in this match upset Petra Kvitová in the second match. Jessica Pegula hasn’t played since the French Open. At the French Open, Pegula marched to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual Roland Garros winner Iga Swiatek 3-6, 2-6. Jessica should be ready for a deep Wimbledon run. Pegula will send Vekic packing.

Tennis Betting Pick: Jessica Pegula -143

Claire Liu vs. Nuria Parrizas Diaz

At first glance, it doesn’t look like Claire Liu should be the pick. Julie Niemeier beat the 22-year-old in Liu’s last, sending Liu home 2-6, 2-6. But Liu, even though she hasn’t won a trophy, has played well in 20222. The favorite in this is 20-13 in singles matches this year. She will make it 21-13 on Tuesday.

Tennis Betting Pick: Claire Liu -149

Qinwen Zheng vs. Sloane Stephens

One of the best first round matches at Wimbledon this week happens on Tuesday when Sloane Stephens throws down against Qinwen Zheng. Magdalena Frech beat Zheng in her last match. The slight dog in this fell 3-6, 0-6. But Zheng is 25-11 in singles matches this year. Sloane Stephens lost to Katie Swan in her last match. Sloane isn’t playing her best tennis. Stephens, though, played well at the last major, losing to eventual French Open runner-up Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals. The favorite gets the nod.

Tennis Betting Pick: Sloane Stephens -132
