The Best Heroes in Dota 2 After the Release of Patch 7.33

By Jeff Stinger

Dota 2 just recently underwent a massive overhaul in gameplay thanks to the arrival of the massive Patch 7.33 update that brought with it a new map and a plethora of balance changes to heroes. The game’s best players got their first taste of the update in competitive play during the Berlin Major 2023, and the results from the tournament set the tone for what the game’s new meta will be for the foreseeable future.

Nitrobetting is here to upload chunks of data on the latest news and developments from the realm of Esports. This time, let’s take a look at the top-tier heroes in Dota 2 in terms of win rate following the game’s groundbreaking Patch 7.33 update.

Which Heroes are the Best After Dota 2 Patch 7.33?

Medusa

Most Dota 2 players would agree that Medusa got the biggest buff from Patch 7.33 (and even Patch 7.33b shortly after), which brings the once-ridiculed gorgon gal back into the game’s overall meta. Medusa got a huge INT buff, a buff to her Split Shot, and her Mana Shield now also works with the illusions that she summons. In turn, Medusa is arguably the game’s most overpowered carry and this has translated to the best win rate amongst all heroes to date, winning close to 60 percent of her matches.

Clinkz

Another hero that saw a significant change for the better is Clinkz, who is now widely regarded as one of the best mids in Dota 2. Clinkz’s new ability, Tar Bomb, has proven to be a huge boon for the skeletal archer in need of support for its own offense. Although the invisibility ability (Skeleton Walk) is now an ultimate and players can no longer spam this skill, many would agree that Clinkz’s updated form is leaner and meaner than its previous iteration.

Underlord

Be it mid or offlane, Underlord is now taking over the Dota meta, which could be Valve’s subliminal way of making up for the failure of their auto-battler game of the same name (save for the pluralization, but we digress). Underlord got so many buffs from Patch 7.33 that it immediately got nerfed in Patch 7.33b for its Atrophy Aura and the Fiend’s Gate ult. Nevertheless, Underlord is still terrific at farming creeps with his first and second ability and it’s this well-rounded skill set that has bumped him up most players’ tier lists.

Chen

As one of the more reliable support characters before Patch 7.33, Chen just got even better with the update and barely ekes out the likes of Crystal Maiden and Keeper of the Light for the best support character in the game. Holy Persuasion, Chen’s mind control ability, now allows the creeps it controls to earn gold and receive buffs themselves through Aghanim’s Shard. The recent changes to Chan have translated to a much higher win rate for the battlemage, which now consistently revolved are the 55 percent range.

Alchemist

Speaking of farming, Alchemist got one of the most significant reworks to turn it into one of the best carries in the game post-Patch 7.33 update. Alchemist’s previous ability Greevil’s Greed is now an innate passive ability, allowing players to fully maximize the rest of his skill set like never before. The addition of the new ability, Corrosive Weaponry, has worked like a charm for the ogrish tandem, adding a slow and debuff attack to his arsenal. An unchecked Alchemist in the early game could get out of hand in a hurry and the larger map with more farming zones has worked has definitely worked to its advantage as well.
