Top 2023 US Open Men’s Singles Tournament Favorites

By Jeff Stinger

The final Grand Slam tournament of the ATP Tour is at hand, as the 2023 US Open looks to close out the season with a bang. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have dominated Grand Slam tourneys this year and both are rightful favorites to win it all once more at Flushing Meadows. However, who are the other top contenders capable of challenging the top two male tennis players in the world?

Nitrobetting is ready to volley the latest tennis news, odds, and updates all year round. This time, let’s look at the top five favorites to win the 2023 US Open men’s singles tournament and their respective odds of winning the annual Grand Slam event in the heart of Queens.

Top 5 Favorites to Win the US Open Men’s Singles Tournament

Novak Djokovic

Coming up one win short at Wimbledon to keep his Calendar Slam dream alive is Novak Djokovic, who fell in the final match in London to top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz last month. Despite that stumble, the future Hall-of-Famer got some form of revenge by beating Alcaraz in the final round at Cincinnati earlier this month in their tune-up tournament leading up to the US Open. Djokovic has lost just five matches all year, which makes him a bonafide favorite to reclaim his throng as the real king of the ATP Tour.

Carlos Alcaraz

Proving that he’s no one-hit wonder is Carlos Alcaraz, who secured his second Grand Slam title in London and needed to beat none other than Djokovic at the final all the more. The 20-year-old Spanish sensation has improved to 42-9 lifetime in Grand Slam events and is more than ready to defend his US Open title this fall. With a whopping 55 matches won to just six losses this season, World No. 1 Alcaraz deserves to be recognized as a co-favorite alongside Djokovic to capture another landmark victory in New York, with the two expected to have a Grand Slam final rematch when all is said and done.

Daniil Medvedev

Currently ranked as the third-best male tennis player in the world, young Russian standout Daniil Medvedev has often been overshadowed by the Alcaraz-Djokovic rivalry this year. Regardless, the 26-year-old Moscow native is one shark to be on the lookout for in the US Open pool, especially since his one and only Grand Slam victory was won in Flushing Meadows just a couple of years ago. With wins in Rome and Miami, coupled with a strong semifinal showing in London, Medvedev is another worthy favorite to reclaim his spot atop the US Open draw this September.

Jannik Sinner

Another semifinalist from Wimby this year rounds out the top-four contenders at the US Open odds-wise, as Italy’s Jannik Sinner seeks his first-ever Grand Slam title. The rising 22-year-old has got to be feeling good about his chances to stun the men’s singles field in Flushing Meadows ahead after picking up a win at the Canadian Open to kickstart his final hard-court run of the year. With a respectable 39-11 record on the hard courts since the previous season, Sinner will yet again be a tough out for the entire draw as another fringe favorite to steal US Open glory away from the ATP Tour’s top two heavy-hitters.

Alexander Zverev

More seen as a solid sleeper pick than a true favorite based on his current odds, Alexander Zverev has the utmost potential to also pop his Grand Slam cherry in the US Open ahead. Since 2020, the reigning men’s singles gold medalist at the Summer Olympics has made it to five Grand Slam semis and one final appearance, with that lone final-round showing coming in Flushing Meadows. It’s been nearly two years since Zverev picked up a victory on the ATP Tour, which is what limits his chances for an upset victory in this year’s running of the US Open.
