By Carlos Chacon

UCLA travels to Seattle for another clash with Washington. The Bruins accomplished a comfortable victory over the Huskies in their first meeting of the season. But with homecourt advantage now on Washington’s side, we expect a closer game between the two. UCLA recovered from a defeat to Oregon after taking down Oregon State 54-55, while Washington just snapped a four-game losing streak.

Why Bet on UCLA Bruins?

The Bruins incurred four of its six defeats in the last nine games. Nevertheless, they were able to bounce back from a five-point loss to Oregon with an incredible 39-point victory over Oregon State. With momentum on their side and a recent win against Washington, the Bruins are ready to put a show on the road.

UCLA is heavy on the defensive end. They hold opponents to 64.1 points (30th) per game. We see consistent shooting defense come from the side. As a team, they hold opponents to 41.0% shooting (51st). This comes from an opponent’s two-point and three-point percentage of 46.8% (51st) and 31.6% (70th), respectively.

Going over UCLA’s offense, several areas of their game pose a threat to Washington. The visitors hold an impressive 76.7 points (34th) per game average. They are the better three-point shooters of the two teams at 35.5% three-point shooting (79th). Furthermore, the Bruins’ offensive rebounding can help the side secure more second-chance points with a solid 10.0 offensive rebounds (46th) per game average.

Johnny Juzang is the latest UCLA player added to the injury list. The guard remains questionable for Monday’s game after he sustained an ankle injury.

Why Bet on the Washington Huskies?

Washington goes through another testing night against the Huskies. But this time around, they have the support of their home fans on their end. The Huskies just ended a back-to-back skirmish with Washington State, both of which ended 78-70. However, the Huskies were at the receiving end of a defeat in the first one. They hit back in the second matchup when the team hosted the game.

There are several points where Washington can close down on the Bruins. While we don’t expect their win to transpire solely from the offensive end, several points of interest could play a huge role against UCLA this time around. Washington is not the best shooting team in the league. However, they have decent offensive rebounding numbers at 9.5 per game (83rd) that could open up more second-chance points. The Huskies also have a reasonable shooting defense that limits teams to 49.9% from the two-point (182nd) and 33.8% from deep (180th).

The Huskies’ core team remains unscathed. This means head coach Mike Hopkins gets the full potential of his squad, which features top scorer Terrell Brown Jr.

UCLA vs. Washington Expert Betting Predictions

UCLA is the better team on paper. Their recent result over Washington also tells us that they are the favorites to win this one. However, Washington having homecourt advantage might keep things close this time around. The Huskies have a better shot at covering the spread, but pulling off the win needs the team to put its best foot forward. If Washington can take advantage of Juzang’s absence, this also opens up gaps that can reel in the Bruins.
