Yair Rodriguez vs. Josh Emmett // UFC Featherweight Championship

As Alexander Volkanovski prepares to become a double champion in UFC 284’s main event, the featherweight division prepares for what’s in store for the division in the near future with a battle between top contenders Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett.

Rodriguez is hot off a first-round TKO victory over fellow top-five featherweight contender Brian Ortega. However, Ortega seems to have exposed his weaknesses after a blazing start in the UFC, which is why there’s some doubt about Rodriguez’s dominant showing. Meanwhile, Emmett is having a late-career resurgence as we speak, as the 37-year-old is on a five-fight win streak since 2019. Emmett might be the underdog heading into the weekend, but his terrific momentum is enough to warrant him as a sleeper pick to win the co-main event fight of the evening.

UFC 284 Betting Pick: Josh Emmett

Jack Della Maddalena vs. Randy Brown

The Aussie crowd will certainly be behind Jack Della Maddalena for his welterweight clash against Randy Brown. The 26-year-old Perth native is a perfect 3-0 in the Octagon – all first-round stoppages – and has won 11 consecutive fights going back to his heydays as Eternal MMA’s welterweight champ.

However, it would be right to discredit his opponent that easily even with the virtual home-field advantage. Brown has a decent win streak himself with four straight wins and is a UFC veteran for over seven years now. “Rude Boy” will also be Della Maddalena’s toughest test in the Octagon to date and we wouldn’t be surprised in the hometown hero is in for a rude awakening.

UFC 284 Betting Pick: Randy Brown

Jimmy Crute vs. Alonzo Menifield

Alonzo Menifield is another American looking to spoil the party Down under when he takes on the pride of New South Wales, Jimmy Crute. Menifield has improved significantly since 2021, going 4-1 in his last five outings and with back-to-back first-round knockouts as his two performances last year.

Meanwhile, Crute dropped the ball when he was given a shot at elite competition in the lightweight division. “The Brute” lost in the very first round to both Anthony Brown and Jamahal Hill in his last two bouts, and he’s not seen action in the ring for over a year. That being said, the odds seem to favor Crute due to the stiffer competition he’s faced and the fact that his next fight is on his own home turf, whereas Menifield is in better form and has better returns for bettors backing him up as a slight underdog.
