Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?
That’s three wins in a row now for the Minnesota Vikings, who find themselves as the only team with a 4-1 record in the NFC North after beating division rivals the Chicago Bears this past weekend, 29-22. Minnesota led by as much as 18 points in the second quarter and fell behind by one point as Chicago rallied from behind before a late go-ahead touchdown sealed the deal for Minny.
All three of the Vikings’ biggest stars on offense delivered in Week 5. Kirk Cousins threw for 296 passing yards and one passing touchdown, as well as the game-winning score with a QB sneak with less than three minutes left in the contest. Running back Dalvin Cook ran for 94 rushing yards and two trips to the end zone of his own, while stud wideout Justin Jefferson finished with team-highs of 12 catches and 154 receiving yards.
As potent as Minnesota’s offense has been at times, the same could not be said about the team’s defense. The Vikes have allowed an average of 24 points to their opponents over the last four games but, thankfully, will face a Miami offense that is dealing with a messy QB conundrum entering Week 6.
Why Bet on the Miami Dolphins?
Things are getting worse by the week for the Miami Dolphins, who’ve now lost two in a row following the 40-17 thrashing at the hands of the New York Jets in Week 5. Miami has failed to score more than 20 points in back-to-back weeks, and that’s largely due to the absence of starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Teddy Bridgewater filled in for Tagovailoa, who is still recovering from an apparent concussion he suffered in Week 4. As if the Dolphins’ luck could not get any worse, Bridgewater also suffered an injury of his own early into the game against the Jets, forcing third-string QB and rookie Skylar Thompson to step in under center. Thompson finished 16-of-33 for 166 passing yards and one pick.
On the bright side, the Fins may have found their lead back in the process, as running back Raheem Mostert racked up 18 carries for 113 rushing yards and a rushing TD. Considering Miami’s recent defensive woes and questions surrounding the QB position, head coach Mike McDaniel may call upon Mostert’s number more often in Week 6, especially with the two having a strong connection from their heydays in San Francisco.
Vikings vs. Dolphins Betting Trends
- The Vikings are 2-4 in their last six road games (1-5 ATS).
- The Vikes are 4-5 against teams from the AFC since 2020 (5-4 ATS).
- The totals have gone over in 10 of Minnesota’s last 13 games on the road.
- The Dolphins are currently on an eight-game home winning streak (7-1 ATS).
- The Fins are 6-2 in their last eight outings against NFC opponents (SU/ATS).
- The totals have gone under in five of the last eight games played in Hard Rock Stadium.
Vikings vs. Dolphins Expert Betting Predictions
There’s no denying that the Dolphins are in danger of falling into the abyss with their QB situation still up in the air. Then again, the Vikings aren’t really known to excel on the road, and it’s Miami who’s been quite a force on its own home turf. Minnesota will likely win this game, but the Fins put up a good fight and lose by less than a field goal in a heartbreaking loss that the folks from South Beach have not seen in quite some time.
