Why is Villarreal a safe bet to win?

The LaLiga team knows they should have escaped Anfield with a 1-goal loss at the most. The Estupinan deflection goal was bad luck. Mane is one of the best players in the world. There was nothing Villarreal could do about Sadio’s goal. If it had just been Mane’s goal, Villareal would have been happy.

Unfortunately, it was more than that. So Villareal is in a 2-goal hole. As always, we should expect Villareal to rally. It won’t be enough to win on the aggregate, but it could be enough to take the second leg straight up.

Why is Liverpool a safe bet to win?

Reds fans had to have been frustrated. For an entire half, 45 minutes plus added time, Liverpool dominated the flow of the match. But Pool couldn’t kick the soccer ball into the net. Then in the second half, Liverpool quickly scored after Villareal player Pervis Estupinan accidently made an own goal.

Estupinan didn’t mean to deflect a Liverpool shot. Estupinan’s deflection was just enough for the ball to sail above Villarreal goalie Geronimo Rulli’s outstretched arm. Two minutes later Sadio Mane scored, putting Liverpool up 2-0. Now that Liverpool knows how to break down Villarreal’s defense, they will keep it going in the second leg.
