Why Bet on the Washington Football Team?
The Washington Football Team came out battered and bruised after their recent three-game stretch against the Saints, Chiefs, and the Packers. Green Bay cruised to a 24-10 victory in Lambeau this past week to hand Washington its third straight defeat and fifth in seven games this season.
With Antonio Gibson held to just 3.6 yards per carry against the Packers, relatively inexperienced quarterback Taylor Heinicke had to do much more for his team’s offense. Heinicke actually out-ran Gibson with 10 carries for a team-high 95 rushing yards, but did throw a pick through the air after going a decent 25-of-37 for 268 passing yards and a touchdown.
While the WFT’s offense is average at best, it’s been the team’s once-feared defense that’s been one of the biggest disappointments in the league this season. Washington is currently the worst team in the NFL in terms of points allowed per game (30 PAPG) and opponents’ third-down efficiency (56.9 percent) after being a top-five unit last season. In turn, the Broncos’ reloaded offense could have its way against Washington’s sieve of a defense on Sunday.
Why Bet on the Denver Broncos?
Having a longer losing streak than Washington are the Denver Broncos, who are on a four-game skid whilst having to deal with a few key injuries. Although the final score of 17-14 in Week 7’s game against the Cleveland Browns appears to be a close one, Denver was just simply outmatched on both sides of the ball all game long.
Teddy Bridgewater was held under 200 passing yards starting an entire game for the first time this season and was picked off for the third consecutive week after going error-free in the first four weeks of the season. The return of second-year wideout Jerry Jeudy should be a boost for the Broncos’ offense, as Jeudy is expected to return from a high ankle sprain this week.
Considering that Washington’s pass defense has been torched often all season long, the Broncos could have a bounce-back effort on the attack. Their defense, which ranks fifth in average yards allowed (323.4 YAPG) and fourth in points allowed (18.1 PAPG), should also have a better outing after having to contain strong offenses from the Ravens, Raiders, and Steelers as well during their four-game slide.
Washington vs. Broncos Betting Trends
- Washington is surprisingly 5-2 in its last seven road games (4-3 ATS).
- Washington is just 2-7 in its last nine meetings against teams from the AFC (2-6-1 ATS).
- The totals went under in four of the WFT’s last seven road games.
- The Broncos are 4-2 over their last six home games (3-3 ATS), but have lost back-to-back homestands.
- The Broncos have lost three straight games wherein they were favored to win (SU/ATS).
- The totals went under in three of the last four games played in Mile High.
Washington vs. Broncos Expert Betting Predictions
With this Week 8 clash being a crucial game for both Denver and Washington’s slim playoff hopes, expect this to be a game that will likely be decided in the final possession. What’s interesting to see is if the Broncos’ mediocre offense will do just enough against Washington’s abysmal defense in order to push the game total more towards the over than the under.
