Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?

Something’s not right with the Buffalo Bills, who were humbled by the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend by way of a 9-6 stinker. The Bills now have just a half-a-game lead over the England Patriots in the AFC East’s division race after being the consensus preseason favorites to win the division with ease.

Josh Allen had his worst outing of the season facing Jacksonville’s own similarly-named defender Josh Allen, who sacked, picked off, and recovered a fumble off of the former in Week 9. Allen just saw his MVP candidacy take a huge blow, as he finished with just 264 yards on 31-of-47 passing without a single touchdown. What’s worse for the Bills’ offense is that their starting QB was also their leading rusher (50 yards on five carries), as they mustered up merely 72 rushing yards as a team.

On the bright side, Buffalo’s defense is still as imposing as ever, limiting the Jags to just 218 yards of total offense. The Bills are still ranked atop the NFL at just 14.8 yards allowed per game to their opponents and second in total forced turnovers with 19. They just need to have their star player get over his off-day from the previous week to get back on the right path.

Why Bet on the New York Jets?

A week after stunning the Bengals with a huge home win, the New York Jets fell back down to Earth with their 45-30 defeat to the Colts in Indianapolis this past Sunday. The score would have us believe that that contest was competitive. But in reality, the Colts led by as much as 32 points midway through the third quarter before New York picked up some garbage points late.

Making things even harder for the Jets moving forward is that backup and incumbent starting QB Mike White left the game in the first quarter with a finger injury. Third-stringer Josh Johnson took over White’s duties, finishing with 317 passing yards and three passing TDs along with one interception. Johnson’s performance, however, was mainly padded by Indy’s passive defensive stands late with the game all but decided.

Although the Jets have scored at least 30 points in each of their last two games, their defense has been a total sieve as well. They’re the only team in the league to allow an average of over 31 points per contest, including 54 points in a loss to the Patriots in Week 7 and a 45 burger to the Colts just this past Sunday. That being said, Robert Saleh’s side is praying that Josh Allen has another bafflingly bad day in the air this coming weekend.

Bills vs. Jets Betting Trends

  • The Bills are 5-2 in the last seven road games (SU/ATS), albeit with those two losses coming in succession over their last two outings.
  • The Bills are 4-2 against the Jets since 2018 (3-3 ATS).
  • The totals went under in five of Buffalo’s eight games this season thus far.
  • The Jets are 3-1 over the last four home games (SU/ATS).
  • The Jets are just 2-4 in the last games wherein they were double-digit underdogs (3-3 ATS).
  • The totals went over in each of New York’s last five games.

Bills vs. Jets Expert Betting Predictions

Just how badly does Buffalo want this road win to prevent their campaign from spiraling out of control? Recent trends would have it that the Jets will not go down that easily, which in turn would also have us believe that Gang Green covering the huge spread is not far from happening. It’s also worth noting that the Jets’ two wins this season have both come against teams with winning records (Titans and Bengals).
