2022 NFL Week 13 Fantasy Waiver Wire Picks
It’s an All-AFC edition of our weekly waiver wire column as we head into the final stretch of the fantasy football season. There were several players from the conference that made a splash in Week 12 and they’re all likely available on the free market this week for some key roster upgrades, especially for aspiring playoff contenders.

Quarterback
Mike White – Jets
- Pct. Owned: 2.9%
It’s tempting to bring up the name of Deshaun Watson as our pick for this week’s QB pickup option, especially with reports stating that Watson could start as early as this Sunday. However, Mike White also made a strong case as a solid streaming QB option in his return under center for Gang Green.
White proved he was a worthy replacement yet again in place of struggling starter Zach Wilson, as the former fifth-round pick out of Western Kentucky went 22-of-28 for 315 air yards and three passing touchdowns in his first start of the season. The Jets have a pivotal game ahead against the Vikings as (+3) road underdogs, which will give White plenty of opportunities to chuck the ball downfield regardless of the score against a potent Minnesota offense.
Running Back
Ty Johnson – Jets
- Pct. Owned: 1.1%
Thanks to the shift from Wilson to White, the Jets also revitalized their offense even in the running game. With starting running back Michael Carter suffering an injury mid-game, Ty Johnson picked up the slack and finished last Sunday’s game against the Bears with five carries for 62 rushing yards and a trip to the end zone.
Johnson does have competition in New York’s backfield committee as fellow backup Zonovan Knight had more touches in Week 12 (14 carries for 69 yards) and James Robinson could also make a return after being benched this past week. Nonetheless, Johnson’s had more experience with the Jets in general from previous years and he’s more likely to get involved in Week 13 thanks to his huge bursts of runs through the trenches.
JaMycal Hasty – Jaguars
- Pct. Owned: 0.8%
Perhaps an even more appealing RB pickup this week is JaMycal Hasty, who filled in for Jacksonville’s starting back Travis Etienne in the win against the Ravens. The former Baylor standout didn’t do much on the ground with just 28 rushing yards on 12 carries but did haul in five catches for 67 receiving yards with one being a TD catch, making him an attractive target in PPR leagues.
Hasty won’t get a better shot at replicating his breakout performance this past week when the Jaguars take on a porous Lions defense in Detroit. The Jags are merely (+1) road dogs in Week 13 at that as they prepare for what should be a shootout in Motor City with little resistance from the defenses on both sides.
Wide Receiver
Isaiah McKenzie – Bills
- Pct. Owned: 16.5%
There must’ve been something special in Isaiah McKenzie’s Thanksgiving meal prior to Buffalo’s Turkey Day bout against the Lions, as he was his team’s leading wide receiver in the contest and not Stefon Diggs nor Gabe Davis.
After a non-existent showing in Week 11, McKenzie erupted out of the slot for 10 targets, six catches, and 96 receiving yards while also scoring his fourth receiving TD of the season and his first since Week 4. Just about all of the Bills’ tertiary receiving threats are worthy of waiver-wire pickup consideration and it’s McKenzie who has the highest upside to be a boom with his knack for finding the end zone.
DeAndre Carter – Chargers
- Pct. Owned: 5.6%
Another wide receiver who benefits from a potent passing attack is DeAndre Carter, who had a similar output as the aforementioned McKenzie in Week 12 with 10 targets, 73 receiving yards, and Justin Herbert connecting with him for an end-zone look.
With Mike Williams (ankle) still bothered by injury, Carter throws his name into the mix amidst a high-flying Chargers passing game along with the likes of Keenan Allen and former waiver wire standout Joshua Palmer. The Bolts have a date against the Raiders up next, which should spell another prolific day through the air for Herbert and Co. with Carter in line for another solid fantasy outing as a flex start in deeper leagues.
Tight End
Foster Moreau – Raiders
- Pct. Owned: 35.5%
Speaking of the Raiders, their amazing overtime win over the Seahawks certainly boosts the fantasy stock of one Foster Moreau, who’s doing a stellar job filling in at starting tight end in place of former fantasy TE stud Darren Waller.
With two TD catches in his last three starts and with Vegas having won back-to-back games, Moreau is a solid pickup for a position in fantasy football that’s as barren as can be. He also has a favorable matchup ahead against a Chargers defense that has given up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.
