Why is PSG a safe bet in Game 1?

Their recent win against Bayern gives them a great leverage in Game 2. They have won all four previous encounters in which they’ve hosted a German team in a European tournament. They’ve also become the first team to take them down under the management Hansi Flick, since he started coaching the German squad.

This is their ninth appearance in the knockout round of the Champions League. They’ve scored in 34 successive games and have found the net in their last nine games this campaign and in their last 23 games at home field.

Mbappé is the player to watch on the French team. He’ll be looking to score in his fourth consecutive appearance in the knockout phase. He can become the first player to score in four consecutive knockout round matches for the team in this competition.

Why is Bayern Munich a safe bet in Game 1?

Bayern has had a rough week since their loss against PSG. They suffered the loss of Robert Lewandowski, who just came back today to the team, due to an injury in his right knee. They also took a draw against Union Berlin on the weekend. So they are looking to shake off the cobwebs and keep their hopes of another championship alive.

This is their 24th campaign, making this their 19th appearance in the quarterfinals. So far, their performance against French clubs as been pretty good. They’ve won nine of the last eleven games against a team of that country, with the exception of the 3-0 loss against PSG in September 2017.

With Lewandowski back in training, we’re not 100% if he will be ready for Tuesday. But we might just have him as a last minute surprise. Another player to keep an eye out for is Joshua Kimmich, who’s been involved in more goal-ending open play sequences than another other midfielder in the tournament this campaign. He’s also provided eight assists in the last nine games of the tournament.

PSG vs. Bayern Munich Betting Prediction

With PSG holding the home field advantage and the aggregate score, it looks like the French squad will take the win. But then again, a team like Bayern is not one to fool around with.

The uncertainty of not having Lewandowski lingers and it might not happen. But if he plays, the balance can definitely shift in a matter of second. Plus, Bayern wants to win it two years in a row. So there’s lots at steak here. Though I keep feeling that things will change this time around.
