Quarterback

Gardner Minshew – Philadelphia Eagles

  • Pct. Owned: 2.5%

Is Minshew Mania about to make waves across the NFL again? The fantasy football gods apparently had a hankering for some mustachioed QB action this past weekend, as Minshew filled in for Jalen Hurts (ankle sprain) under center for Philly.

Minshew dazzled in his first start of the season, throwing for 242 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns with an amazing 80 percent completion percentage (20-of-25). The fan-favorite gunslinger is only a QB stash right now with the Eagles on bye, but he’s a very attractive option worth a spec should Hurts’ owners expect their starting QB to miss more time following the team’s week off.

Running Back

Tevin Coleman – New York Jets

  • Pct. Owned: 41.3%

With Michael Carter still on IR, veteran running back Tevin Coleman has popped up on our fantasy radar once more. Coleman was serviceable in Carter’s place this past week, running the ball 11 times for 58 rushing yards and hauling in three of four targets for 19 receiving yards.

Coleman’s value is certainly higher in PPR formats, but the fact that fellow backup Ty Johnson (just 10 carries over the past four weeks) has not broken away from the pack speaks volumes of the Jets’ intentions to have the six-year back see more snaps for consistency. In turn, Coleman is a decent low-end flex start by virtue of being New York’s lead back for the time being.

Rashaad Penny – Seattle Seahawks

  • Pct. Owned: 1.7%

Another running back benefitting from a fallen teammate is Seattle’s Rashaad Penny, who averaged 5.6 yards per carry on 11 touches against a formidable 49ers defense stepping in for Alex Collins (abdomen).

Penny will get a crack at another glowing performance in a tasty matchup against the Texans in Week 14. Seattle is currently (-7.5) road favorites to win in Houston, and Penny could be at the crux of a resurgent Seattle offense that’s taking more and more pressure off the shoulders of ailing star quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wide Receiver

Amon-Ra St. Brown – Detroit Lions

  • Pct. Owned: 6.6%

Rookie wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown finally had his moment under the spotlight. His first NFL touchdown just so happens to be the game-winning catch to put Detroit’s 12-game losing streak to an end against the crestfallen Vikings.

St. Brown finished with season-highs of 12 targets, 10 receptions, and 86 receiving yards to go with his highlight trip to the end zone. The fourth-round pick out of USC has had four catches in each of his last three starts prior to his breakout performance and should now be more involved in the Lions’ passing attack playing with renewed confidence thanks to the young receiver.

K.J. Osborn – Minnesota Vikings

  • Pct. Owned: 4.2%

Speaking of the Vikings, K.J. Osborn was the next man up in Minnesota’s receiving pecking order after No. 2 wide receiver Adam Thielen suffered an ankle injury in the game against Detroit. Osborn made the most out of his opportunity and finished with four catches for 47 receiving yards on seven targets.

Osborn now has three TD catches for the season for a potent Minny passing game. It’s also worth noting that the IMG Academy product has had three games of over 70 receiving yards through the first six weeks of the season, making him a worthy flex start with a relatively high boom potential in Week 14.

Tight End

Evan Engram – New York Giants

  • Pct. Owned: 28.7%

Former top tight end prospect Evan Engram is finally starting to get his number called upon more often in the Giants’ middling passing offense. In terms of PPR formats, the former first-round pick has four double-digit outings over his last six games, recently hauling in four catches for 61 receiving yards in the loss to Miami on Sunday.

Best of all, Engram’s been healthy for most of the season save for missing the first two weeks of the campaign. The G-Men take on the Chargers in Week 14 as (+10.5) road dogs, giving the former Ole Miss standout plenty of chances to get looks with New York expected to play from behind like it has been accustomed to for most of the season.
