Kansas City Chiefs
- Odds to Win 2022 AFC West Division Title: +160
Until proven otherwise, the Chiefs will remain the front-runners to win the AFC East for as long as the electric Patrick Mahomes is running the offense. Kansas City has won six straight division titles, with the streak dating back before Mahomes arrived in KC.
However, as the odds would indicate, Kansas City isn’t a clear-cut favorite to win the division this upcoming season, especially with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill no longer being an option in the team’s prolific passing attack. Not to mention the massive improvements from their division rivals below.
Los Angeles Chargers
- Odds to Win 2022 AFC West Division Title: +225
Fans and pundits alike are going gaga over the Chargers this year considering the monolithic performance of second-year quarterback Justin Herbert last season (5,000 passing yards, 38 passing touchdowns). Los Angeles’ offense is already frightening, and the team bolstered the other side of the ball as well with the big-time signing of Pro Bowl edge-rusher Khalil Mack in the offseason.
The Bolts’ defense has been their Achilles heel these last two years, and Mack’s arrival is enough for them to be in the tight running for the AFC West title along with the dominating Chiefs.
Denver Broncos
- Odds to Win 2022 AFC West Division Title: +260
Speaking of big-time signings, the Broncos landed arguably the biggest name this offseason with Russell Wilson taking his talents from Seattle to Mile High. Denver has not had a proven elite QB since Peyton Manning, and Wilson immediately vaults the team to new heights.
The Broncos still have a rather solid defense to complement the new-look offense, but there’s no denying Russ’ impact to turn them into virtual equals of the Chiefs and Chargers odds-wise.
Las Vegas Raiders
- Odds to Win 2022 AFC West Division Title: +650
Not to be outdone by their big-spending peers, Vegas hit the jackpot when the team landed celebrated Packers wide receiver Davante Adams in free agency. The offense does look great when matched up against the rest of the AFC West, but the Raiders’ defense is still a concern. Then again, we often forget that it was the Silver and Black who beat out the Chargers and Broncos for a playoff spot out of this group.
The Raiders’ impressive late-season run following the exit of controversial head coach Jon Gruden also speaks volumes of their sweet sleeper potential to outhustle their division rivals for the division crown in 2022.
