5 College Football Win Totals to Bet

Alabama Crimson Tide

• 2022 College Football Win Total: Over 10.5

The Crimson Tide should go undefeated this season. Bama plays their toughest opponent, Texas A&M, at home. Unless the Tide suffers key injuries, they will enter the SEC Championship undefeated.

Baylor Bears

• 2022 College Football Win Total: Over 7.5

Baylor has a tough schedule, but the defending Big 12 Champions boast a strong defense, a solid offensive line, and a terrific quarterback in Blake Shapen. Losing more than 4 games doesn’t seem probable.

California Golden Bears

• 2022 College Football Win Total: Under 5.5

Cal should be better this season than they were in 2021, but the Bears just don’t have a lot of talent. Wins over UC-Davis and UNLV seem probable. Another victory this season will be difficult to find.

Vanderbilt Commodores

• 2022 College Football Win Total: Under 2.5

Vanderbilt under 2.5 – Like Cal, Vanderbilt doesn’t have a lot of talent. Also, Vandy plays in the deepest, toughest conference in college football, the SEC. The Commodores should beat Elon on Sep. 3. That’s the only game Vandy should win.

NC State Wolfpack

• 2022 College Football Win Total: Over 8.5

NC State can win 10 to 11 games this season. If NC State upsets Clemson on the road on Oct. 1, they have a chance to go undefeated. The Wolfpack is a solid over play.

5 College Football Win Totals to Avoid

Auburn Tigers

• 2022 College Football Win Total: 6.5

Head coach Bryan Harsin and Auburn are heading for a disastrous end. Harsin may not coach the entire season. But it’s difficult to know what will happen and Harsin is a decent HC. So it’s best to avoid Auburn’s win total.

BYU Cougars

• 2022 College Football Win Total: 8.5

On paper, BYU should be a tough team to deal with. Over looks almost assured, but then a closer look reveals how tough the schedule actually is. Baylor, Oregon, Boise State, and Arkansas should beat BYU. If that happens, the Cougars go 8-4 and miss the over. But if BYU rolls, they can upset at least 2 of those 4 teams. Best not make a decision either way.

Clemson Tigers

• 2022 College Football Win Total: 10.5

The total suggests Clemson will lose no more than a game this season. The loss is likely to happen against Notre Dame on Nov. 5. But although Clemson can win 11, the schedule is full of pitfalls. NC State might be better than Clemson. FSU, Miami, Wake Forest, and even South Carolina should challenge the Tigers. Stay away from this tough total.

Georgia Bulldogs

• 2022 College Football Win Total: 10.5

The defending champions must replace 8 starters on defense. That alone makes backing over this massive total tenuous. But we can’t be sure this goes under, either. UGA’s offense could be spectacular and neither Bama nor A&M is on the regular season schedule. Avoiding the extreme total is the way to go.

Oregon Ducks

• 2022 College Football Win Total: 8.5

Former UGA defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is a master defensive strategist. He’ll ensure Oregon plays top notch D. But the Ducks’ offense could struggle because the unit lost some players to the transfer portal. Also, the schedule isn’t a cakewalk. Oregon takes on Georgia in Atlanta, and hosts BYU, Washington, UCLA, and Utah. This year’s annual Civil War, always a tough game for the Ducks, happens at Oregon State. Avoid backing the Ducks to go over or under.
