2022 NFL Season Top 5 Tight Ends
Often one of the most underrated offensive positions in football, the prototypical tight end in modern-day NFL has turned into a potent weapon more so than as a run blocker. There are four elite tight ends right now, each of them currently viable sleeper candidates to win the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. The fifth-best tight end in the league is still up for debate and that’s what we’ll also try to address with our list of the best TEs entering the new season.
Nitrobetting is ready to equip its bettors with the latest news, futures odds, and special features for the duration of the 2022 NFL offseason. This time, let’s count down the five best tight ends heading into the 2022 NFL season and their respective odds of winning the coveted 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award to date.
Top 5 Tight Ends Heading into the 2022 NFL Season

Travis Kelce
- 2022 NFL OPOY Award Odds: +4000
At this very moment, many would agree that Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce will be enshrined in Canton as a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection has a streak of six consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards to date and last season, became the fastest tight end to reach 9,000 career receiving yards. All things considered, Kelce is deserving of his status as the consensus favorite amongst all TEs who could win the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.
George Kittle
- 2022 NFL OPOY Award Odds: +5000
It’s been almost half a decade since Niners fan favorite George Kittle made waves in the Bay Area. Kittle once held the NFL record with 1,377 receiving yards in a single season for a tight end in 2018. However, Kelce would reclaim his position atop that statistic in 2020 and injuries have also slowed down the 28-year-old product out of Iowa. Nevertheless, San Francisco will have a new starting quarterback in 2022 with Trey Lance at the helm, which should bode well for Kittle’s comeback campaign as Lance’s best check-down option in the passing game.
Mark Andrews
- 2022 NFL OPOY Award Odds: +8000/li>
Always a threat in the end zone, Baltimore’s Mark Andrews finally broke loose last season with his best performance in the NFL to date. Andrews received his first All-Pro nod (a first-team All-Pro selection at that) after setting new career highs of 107 catches for 1,361 receiving yards and nine touchdowns; numbers that even Kelce and Kittle would envy. The former Oklahoma standout has racked up 26 receiving TDs over the last three seasons as well, making him an attractive sleeper candidate to win this year’s OPOY award.
Kyle Pitts
- 2022 NFL OPOY Award Odds: +8000
Expectations are high once again for young tight end Kyle Pitts, who was taken by the Falcons with the fourth-overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft (a new draft record for a rookie tight end). Pitts immediately busted onto the professional scene with 1,026 receiving yards in his debut, albeit with just one trip to the end zone to show for it. Atlanta’s not expected to contend for a Lombardi Trophy this season, but that shouldn’t deter Pitts’ production on the field, especially since he’s the only legitimate downfield threat that the Falcons have.
Darren Waller
- 2022 NFL OPOY Award Odds: +10000
There’s a ton of competition for our vote for the fifth-best tight end in the NFL, and we’ll have to side with Las Vegas’ Darren Waller for that final spot. Waller had a streak of back-to-back seasons with at least 90 receptions and 1,100 receiving yards before injuries hampered his 2021 campaign. Although the Raiders added another deep threat in wide receiver Davante Adams to their offensive core this offseason, that should just mean more open looks for Waller from Derek Carr as opposing defenses will start to gravitate towards covering Adams more often than the surprising sixth-round selection out of Georgia Tech.
