2022 NFL Week 11 Takeaways

By Jeff Stinger

Even with four teams on their byes, Week 11 of the 2022 NFL season wasn’t short on amazing finishes and impactful outcomes. The playoff picture in both the AFC and the NFC just got more intriguing as well as several teams made their cases for a postseason berth much stronger, while some were not as fortunate on Sunday.

Nitrobetting is ready to equip its bettors with the latest news, NFL odds, and special features for the entire duration of the 2022 NFL season. Let’s briefly recap the most notable happenings from Week 11 with our three key takeaways from this week’s action.

Top Takeaways from 2022 NFL Week 11

The Empire Strikes Again

Make that 14 wins in a row now for the New England Patriots in their division rivalry against the New York Jets. With their Week 11 showdown tied at three points apiece and with mere seconds left in the contest, New England punt returner Marcus Jones returned New York’s punt all the way for a blazing 84-yard touchdown for a walk-off score.

Leave it to the Pats’ Emperor Palpatine, head coach Bill Belichick, to pull out another miraculous win in Foxborough. The Patriots are now tied with the Jets with identical 5-4 records, but the season sweep of the Jets gives the Pats the edge in the division race. Both teams are just one game behind the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East standings to make this bunch the most compelling division in football to date as all four teams currently boast winning records.

From Purple Rain to Purple Pain

Did all of the Minnesota Vikings’ powers get sapped from last week’s game-of-the-year-worthy victory over the Bills? Minnesota hosted the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and suffered one of the franchise’s worst blowouts in history with Dallas running away with a 40-3 blowout.

Kirk Cousins was sacked a career-high seven times by the Cowboys’ elite pass-rushing unit as Minny saw their seven-game win streak come to a halt. The Vikings no longer share the best record in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, who fulfilled their end of the bargain with a nail-biting one-point win on the road over the Indianapolis Colts. The Vikes still have a stranglehold of their division lead being four games ahead of the rest of the NFC North pack, though but would need to keep their foot on the pedal if they are to stay in the hunt for a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Goodbye, Title Defense?

It’s pretty much official: the Los Angeles Rams will not be able to defend their Super Bowl title this season, let alone make the postseason altogether. LA suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in Week 11 against a middling New Orleans Saints team that entered the week with just three wins.

With Cooper Kupp on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, the Rams’ offense just wasn’t the same without its star wideout. Many believe that Los Angeles will shut down Kupp for the rest of the season, which pretty much signals the end of the team’s league dominance for good. At 3-7, the Rams have the worst record in the NFC West and will still have to deal with salary cap issues for the upcoming campaign, making the task of bringing the organization back to relevancy a much taller order for head coach Sean McVay moving forward.
