Whether your league is set to begin the playoffs or is just about to wrap up the regular-season campaign, there’s no reason for you and your fantasy football managers to continue sifting through the waiver wire for key roster additions. Quarterback

Brock Purdy – 49ers

  • Pct. Owned: 7.0%

The talk of the football town this week is definitely San Francisco third-string QB Brock Purdy, who defied all odds and became the only quarterback in NFL history to beat Tom Brady in his first-career start. Purdy, who has taken the reins of the Niners’ offense with the recent injury to Jimmy Garoppolo, is playing light out by throwing for multiple touchdowns in back-to-back games and has yet to be picked off by opposing defenses.

Purdy will have a massive showdown ahead against division rival Seattle. The 49ers are currently (-3) road favorites to complete their season sweep of the Seahawks and will need Mr. No Longer Irrelevant to keep his hot streak going. Purdy is dealing with an oblique injury but is expected to start on a short week this Thursday night, which makes him a very attractive streaming QB option against a reeling Seahawks team.

Running Back

Travis Homer – Seahawks

  • Pct. Owned: 46.5%

Speaking of the Seahawks, they arguably have the most notable waiver wire target this week in running back Travis Homer. Seattle’s backfield has been ravaged and the former Miami Gator is the only legitimate running back worth starting out of this team heading into Week 15.

Unfortunately, Homer’s numbers haven’t been spectacular at all this season, recently amassing just 26 yards on nine carries against the Giants this past Sunday. Then again, there’s plenty of opportunity for him to produce in his first week with a heavy workload ahead of Thursday night’s contest to warrant a ton of PPR value as a possible FLEX start.

Chuba Hubbard – Panthers

  • Pct. Owned: 19.0%

Kudos goes out to Carolina’s feisty offense, which leans heavily in the running game to the benefit of its backfield corps. While many fantasy owners have already caught up to D’Onta Foreman, there should be more interested parties this week who’ll be interested in investing in Chuba Hubbard as well.

Over the past two weeks, Hubbard has at least 14 carries and 65 rushing yards as the yang to Foreman’s yin in the Panthers’ running game. The former All-American out of Oklahoma State will get a tasty matchup against the visiting Steelers this week, with Carolina being a (-2.5) home favorite to beat Pittsburgh. At the very least, Hubbard is a must-stash handcuff for Foreman’s owners.

Wide Receiver

D.J. Chark – Lions

  • Pct. Owned: 22.9%

There’s plenty of love to go around in the Motor City these past couple of weeks as the Lions’ offense has suddenly come to life and they’re now in the running for a wild card spot. Detroit’s passing game is now clicking as well, with four-year wideout D.J. Chark being a huge part of the team’s success.

Since Week 12, Chark has had either more than 90 yards receiving or a receiving touchdown. Last Sunday, he accomplished both feats with six catches on seven targets for 94 receiving yards and a trip to the end zone in the win over the Vikings. The Lions will close out the season with three of four games on the road, which spells the need for the team to throw the ball often in hopes of keeping their slim playoff hopes alive. In turn, Chark will be a decent WR3/FLEX option the rest of the way.

Richie James Jr. – Giants

  • Pct. Owned: 0.9%

It appears as though there are still issues with the Giants’ offense. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for unheralded wide receiver Richie James Jr., who’s quietly hauled in three touchdown catches over the last four games.

New York’s next three opponents are against teams with average pass defenses in Washington, Minnesota (again), and Indianapolis. That being said, James provides huge boom potential for teams in deeper PPR leagues, regardless of standard or PPR formats given his high-TD upside.

Tight End

Chigoziem Okonkwo – Titans

  • Pct. Owned: 4.3%

Is it time to get Chiggy with it? Tennessee tight end Chigoziem “Chig” Okonkwo has also flown under the radar of late. The fourth-round rookie out of Maryland scored his second-career NFL touchdown in Week 14 along with a new career-high six receptions for 45 yards against the Jaguars.

Okonkwo has competition for looks as he still splits snaps with Austin Hooper in the Titans’ offensive formations, but he’s also been the more consistent fantasy performer between the two. Okonkwo averaged a little over five PPR points between Weeks 9 and 12 before his past couple of breakout performances, which is all a fantasy manager in need of a starting TE could ask for this season.
