2022 NFL Week 5 Odds, Overview & Picks
On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts head to Denver to take on the Broncos kicking off what promises to be an eventful NFL Week 5. Top Sunday matchups include Tom Brady and Tampa Bay hosting Atlanta for first place in the NFC South and the Cowboys battling the Rams in Los Angeles. Then on Monday, Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City host the rival Las Vegas Raiders.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos
- When: Thursday, October 3rd, 2022. 8:15pm EST.
- Where: Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO
- NFL Odds: Colts (+3.5) // Broncos (-3.5)
So far, neither the Broncos nor the Colts have lived up to expectations. Denver failed against a team many thought they should have blasted, the Raiders, in week 4.
In their last, Indianapolis couldn’t beat Tennessee on their home turf. But at least Colts’ quarterback Matt Ryan got out of his doldrums by throwing a pair of touchdowns and for close to 350 yards. Taking the points makes sense.

New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

- Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, UK
- NFL Odds: Giants (+8) // Packers (-8)
Giants head coach Brian Daboll may have to sign a quarterback from the practice squad. Starter Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor are questionable. The fact Daboll has yet to announce who will start means things may not be looking up. But although the Giants may have to sign a player to sit under center, it’s still difficult to back the Packers.
Green Bay’s defense allowed New England running backs to go for 167 yards. Saquon Barkley could dominate the Packer D. The Giants get the nod to cover.

Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots

- Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA
- NFL Odds: Lions (+3) // Patriots (-3)
Bailey Zappe, New England’s third-string quarterback and this Sunday’s likely starter, played well in limited action against Green Bay. Detroit’s defense is so bad, Zappe could end up looking like a Tom Brady clone.
The Lions allowed Seattle, who has one of the worst offenses in the NFL, to score 48 in Detroit’s last. Th Patriots win and cover.
2022 NFL Week 5 Pick: New England Patriots
Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- When: Sunday, October 9th, 2022. 1:00pm EST.
- Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
- NFL Odds: Falcons (+9) // Buccaneers (-9)
The line on the Buccaneers has moved a full point from -8 to -9. Most NFL handicappers expect Brady and Tampa to bounce back from the 41-31 thrashing KC handed the Buccaneers in NFL Week 4.
Tampa could bounce back with a big win and cover. But the Falcons are 4-0 ATS. For sure the ATL can win against the spread.
2022 NFL Week 5 Pick: New England Patriots
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets
- When: Sunday, October 9th, 2022. 1:00pm EST.
- Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
- NFL Odds: Dolphins (-3) // Jets (+3)
Although the Jets are 2-2, we shouldn’t expect them to beat Miami on Sunday. The Dolphins are in good hands with Teddy Bridgewater under center. Not only that, but the Jets’ wins have come against Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Miami gets back on the right track with a huge win and cover.

Dallas Cowboys vs. L.A. Rams
- When: Sunday, October 9th, 2022. 4:25pm EST.
- Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA
- NFL Odds: Cowboiys (+5.5) // Rams (-5.5)
NFL bettors are laying big money on the Cowboys. The line opened Los Angeles Rams -6.5. It quickly dived to Rams -4.5. By kickoff, the line should be Los Angeles -3 or -3.5. Dallas’ defense faces a turnover prone offense and backup quarterback Cooper Rush is 4-0 as a starter.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals
- When: Sunday, October 9th, 2022. 4:25pm EST.
- Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ
- NFL Odds: Ragles (-5) // Cardinals (+5)
The Eagles are the lone remaining undefeated team in the NFL, which, of course, means Arizona is a good bet to upset Philly straight up.
Okay. Maybe the Cards don’t win this on the money line. But 5 points is a lot to give to a team that is flying high after rallying for a road win in their last. Arizona +5 is the play.
2022 NFL Week 5 Pick: Arizona Cardinals
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens
- When: Sunday, October 9th, 2022. 8:20pm EST.
- Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MA
- NFL Odds: Bengals (+3.5) // Ravens (-3.5)
Bengals versus Ravens should be an incredible game. The Ravens could have kicked a field goal and force a possible overtime against the Buffalo Bills in week 4. Instead, coach John Harbaugh went for it and Lamar Jackson threw a pick. The Bills marched down the field and scored the game-winning field goal.
Cincinnati had no trouble against Miami. Yes, losing Tua affected the Fins’ plans. But the Bengals’ offense performed great against a terrific defense. Cincy has momentum and should have no trouble moving the ball versus the Raven’s awful D. Take the points.
