The 2022 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP is the one and only PGA TOUR event that takes place in Asia and has been a fixture on the TOUR’s annual schedule since 2019. It is co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and the Japan Golf Tour and will remain a tournament on the PGA TOUR season’s schedule until the year 2025.
A massive prize pool worth $11 million is at stake in Chiba, Japan this week. That’s more than a $1 million increase in total payout from last year’s installment of the tournament, which handed out $9.95 million in winnings. It’s also the most lucrative tournament on the season thus far as the only event with an eight-digit prize purse with the three prior FedExCup-points-based PGA TOUR tournaments all falling below the $10 million payout mark.
