2023 College Football Week 11 Winners and Losers

By Hank Blaine

The top contenders for a College Football Playoff berth retain their stranglehold atop the upper echelons of the AP Top 25 Poll after the dust had settled from Week 11’s action. However, the mid-tier exceptions continue to shake up the rest of the rankings, which could mean a more dramatic finish as we decide the final four postseason participants with only two weeks left in the regular season.

Nitrobetting is here to take your bets into the end zone this 2023 college football season. Let’s briefly recap the biggest winners and losers from the action-packed Week 11 slate.

Winners and Losers from Week 11 of the 2023 NCAA Football Season

Winner: Missouri Tigers

Up five spots to No. 11 in the AP Poll this week are the Missouri Tigers, who bounced back from their Week 10 loss to No. 1 Georgia in Week 10 with a triumphant 36-7 beating of the Tennessee Volunteers this past Saturday. The Tigers are now in line for a rematch against the Bulldogs as to who’ll represent the SEC East in the conference championship with a cakewalk of a schedule in the last two weeks with dates against Florida and Arkansas. For as long as Mizzou’s stud running back Cody Schrader continues to torch opposing defenses – 321 all-purpose yards and one touchdown against the Vols – the team could be a sneaky backdoor CFP contender.

Loser: Oklahoma Sooners

Just when the Oklahoma State Cowboys were riding a five-game high, they were totally humiliated by bottom-dwelling UCF this past weekend. It wasn’t just any loss either, as the Knights cruised to a 45-3 victory, sending OSU plummeting down nine spots to No. 24 this week. Thankfully, the Big 12 is still up for grabs even with four other teams in the conference still in the mix for the best record in the group, and the Cowboys do have a favorable matchup in Week 12 as (-7.5) favorites against Houston to get them back on the right track.

Winner: Georgia Bulldogs

It’s easy to call Kirby Smart and his boys from Athens as winners every week. After all, the defending champs remain undefeated and have lorded over the entire FBS since the start of the mighty Georgia Bulldogs’ campaign. Week 11’s resounding 52-17 win over Ole Miss was another strong case for the Bulldogs to pull off the rare three-peat when all is said and done. By the way, Georgia now has sole possession of the second-longest reign by a No. 1 team in the AP Poll at 22 weeks and counting. Next up is a crucial matchup against the Volunteers, as UGA is ready to knock Tennessee out of SEC title contention entirely.

Loser: Kansas Jayhawks

After a pair of quality wins over Oklahoma and Iowa State, the Kansas Jayhawks ended up on the losing end of a 16-13 decision versus Texas Tech this past weekend. The Red Raiders’ game-winning field goal as time expired was enough of a blow to boot Kansas out of the Top 25. Meanwhile, neighboring Kansas State took their place in the rankings as the No. 23 team in the nation. The Jayhawks and the Wildcats face one another in The Booth, but not even home-field advantage for the former is enough to inspire confidence in Kansas, which is still seen as a (+7.5) home underdog against surging KSU.
