2023 Tour de France Odds

By Jeff Stinger

Steep roads, fast descents, and sprint finishes await the peloton in the cycling calendar’s biggest race of the season. The 2023 Tour De France departs in the Basque Country for the race’s opening stage.

The stakes are as high as ever for this year featuring last year’s winner Jonas Vingegaard defending his Yellow Jersey with two-time winner Tadej Pogacar breathing down his neck. Mark Cavendish also looks to get his 35th stage win, but we find a stacked selection of sprinters ready to fight tooth and nail with the veteran. There are breakaway specialists ready to pounce when there’s an opening, and debutants itching to make a statement in July.

So who will come away with the Yellow Jersey this time? Can Vingegaard keep the throne, or are we about to see a different winner? Find out more in this Tour de France 2023 odds list brought to you by Nitrobetting.

Odds to Win the 2023 Tour de France

There are not lines

176 riders set off on a 3 405,6 kilometer race across all five of France’s mountain ranges. The 21-stage race includes four punishing summit stage finishes and an ascent of the volcano, Puy de Dome, before concluding on Paris’s Champs Elysees on July 23.

With heavy hitters out of this year’s competition, a brief list of thrilling cyclists raises a familiar forecast about who will ultimately top the event. As usual, this remains anyone’s race, but there are a handful of favorites and promising riders in the 2023 Tour de France to look at.

A Brief Look at the Peloton

Viewers and bettors can expect another compelling Yellow Jersey clash between defending champion Jonas Vingegaard and 2020 and 2021 winner Tadej Pogacar. Vingegaard denied Pogacar a third consecutive win last year with a fascinating performance in the mountains to claim his first-ever Tour de France title. The Dane tops the list as the favorite with the Slovenian trailing him as the next best pick.

There’s no contest that Yellow Jersey is the most anticipated prize in the Tour and road racing. Winning the Tour de France is at the top of any rider’s list, and only a few succeed in this endeavor. That very thing was achieved by Jumbo-Visma’s Jonas Vingegaard when he took down the race favorite Tadej Pogacar. Many are behind Vingegaard to win a second consecutive victory at the 2023 Tour. The Danish rider has been in top form this season, taking the recent Critérium du Dauphiné.

Meanwhile, Pogacar has been out of the saddle since trashing out of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège in April–suffering a broken wrist. Although he continues to train for the big day, only time will tell if he can confidently stand at the race’s start. Furthermore, the story of Green Jersey and the Best Debutant is a must-watch. This year’s Tour sees familiar faces and several riders taking on the multi-week race for the first time.
