There’s less than a week before the 2023 Tour de France gets underway. This is the 110th edition of the event as cyclists embark on a 21-leg race that starts in Bilbao, Spain, before entering France for the third leg. Of course, the final stage sees competitors ride around the iconic streets of Paris and pass iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.

The tour attracts both serious and casual cyclists while garnering the interest of bettors around the globe. Dubbed as the toughest sporting event in the world, the Tour de France offers something unique and exciting all at once. That said, we’ve compiled a preview of the race with essential details such as the race schedule, participating teams, and more.

A Closer Look at the 2023 Tour de France

This year’s tour departs in Spain before crossing France on the third day. The 2023 edition cover’s the country’s five tallest mountain ranges, featuring eight mountain stages and four summit finishes. The final summit finish is on the 15th stage followed by a rest day and the only time trial stage of the race, a 14-mile event. What this means is the Tour will not hold a time trial on the opening day as it did in the previous three competitions. Instead, the 20th stage is typically the final competitive day for the Tour.

NBC Sports will air every stage of the 110th Tour de France, featuring live daily coverage of Peacock from start to end. NBC and USA Network share live coverage of the opening week, while additional encores of each stage air on USA. You can also access all NBC and USA Network coverage on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app.

There are multiple storylines about to captivate new and old cycling fans around the globe. Let’s get on with an overview of this year’s schedule and participating teams below.
