Three of the four matches at the 2023 Wimbledon Quarterfinals have been set. Already, odds have landed for two of the matches. Jannik Sinner is a -6.5 game total chalk against Roman Safiullin and Novak Djokovic is a -1000 favorite versus Andrey Rublev. Djoker is on the march for his second straight major title. In the third match, upset minded Chris Eubanks hopes to keep his dream Wimbledon run alive when he takes on former number one in the world Daniil Medvedev. Jannik Sinner vs. Roman Safiullin

• When: Tuesday, July 11, 2023

The 25-year old Russian has gotten better with every match. It took Safiullin 5 sets and 2 tiebreakers to beat Roberto Batista Agut in the first round. But in the fourth round, Safiullin beat Denis Shapovalov in 3 straight sets after dropping the first. Safiullin offers a decent payout for plus 6.5 games, which is another reason to consider backing the dog.

Sinner has had no problems so far this Wimbledon tournament. The favorite in this match, Jannik dispatched of his first four opponents like he was warming up. During this tournament, Sinner has lost a single set. Sinner required a tiebreaker to beat Daniel Elahi Gelan. But other than that, no bumps on the road to the quarterfinals.

This is a tough bet because Jannik Sinner is easily disposing of his opponents, but he’s winning by 2 or 3 sets. He’s not blowing out his competition. Safiullin is playing like a possible upset winner. We don’t have the guts to back Roman on the money line. But, for sure, he’s a great play at +6.5.

Andrey Rublev vs. Novak Djokovic

• When: Tuesday, July 11, 2023

Djokovic fought off a determined Herbert Hurkacz in the fourth round. Novak had been cruising, beating Pedro Cachin, Jordan Thompson, and Stan Wawrinka in straight sets and a couple of tiebreakers.

But Hurkacz beat Djoker, which is a positive for Novak. Djokovic gets better the more his opponents push him. Expect the great Djokovic to be at the top of his game on Tuesday.

It hasn’t been easy for Rublev. The young tennis star required 4 sets and 2 tiebreakers to get by David Goffin in the third round.

Then in the fourth round, Rublev required 4 sets and 2 tiebreakers to beat Alexander Bublik. All the tennis should set Rublev up well to take on the tennis GOAT.

Djoker has had Rublev’s number. In 4 matches, Novak is 3-1. Djokovic has won the last 2 head- to-head matches.

So although Rublev has a chance, we can’t endorse on the money line. Novak should get the victory. But Djoker won’t easily beat Andrey. Backing Rublev at +7.5 makes sense.

Daniil Medvedev vs. Chris Eubanks

• When: Wednesday, July 12, 2023

Oddsmakers keep doubting Chris Eubanks and Eubanks keeps stepping it up. The major underdog in this dusted Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round.

Tsitsipas won the first set. So Eubanks rallied to get the victory, which is a sign he’s playing the best tennis of his career.

Medvedev has faced few issues along the road to the quarters. Not only that but Medvedev didn’t have to play a third set versus Jiri Lehecka because that rival retired.

Not having to play a third set gives Medvedev a big edge. Daniil will be much fresher than his opponent in this quarterfinals match. Daniil Medvedev is the favorite for a reason. When he’s on, he’s one of the best players in the world.

For sure, Eubanks has impressed. But the win over Tsitsipas had to have taken something out of him. The match lasted 5 sets and included a tiebreaker. Medvedev moves to the semifinals.
