Jannik Sinner vs. Novak Djokovic

Sinner has played good enough tennis for us to consider a live underdog. Jannik hasn’t beaten a ranked opponent yet during the tournament.

But in the quarterfinals victory against Roman Safiullin, Sinner lost the second set and then rallied in the next two to get it done. The victory, where Sinner settled done and won two sets 6-2, is a sign Jannik is ready to take on Djoker.

The great Novak Djokovic feels he can complete the Grand Slam this season. Novak already has the French Open and Australian Open titles in the bag.

All that’s left is Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Djoker knows that if he doesn’t take Sinner seriously, the underdog will beat him.

In the head-to-head, Djokovic is 2-0. Not only that, but although Sinner is playing great tennis, he’s up against the sport’s GOAT and the goat wants to feast.

Djoker is going for the Grand Slam. He can’t afford to take a backward step versus a player that just isn’t on his level. Novak Djokovic gets the win.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev

  • When: Friday, July 14, 2023

The world’s top ranked player has won 5 singles titles and is 40-4 in singles matches this season. Alcaraz beat Holger Rune in straight sets in the quarterfinals, which is a sign he’s playing about as well as he has all season long.

Also, after the French Open loss to Djokovic, Alcaraz is motivated for the rematch. Carlos will be at the top of his game on Friday.

Medvedev is having a decent season. Like Alcaraz, Daniil has won 5 singles titles. Also like Alcaraz, Medvedev has at least 40 singles victories in 2023.

Daniil is motivated because, since he’s Russian, he couldn’t participate at Wimbledon last year due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Extra motivation can go a long way.

Medvedev has played well enough to get to this point, but a semifinal loss to Carlos Alcaraz is where Daniil’s Wimbledon dreams end.

The underdog in this faced a determined player in his last, Christopher Eubanks. The American had come off an upset victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round.

Eubanks pushed Medvedev to 5 sets and a tiebreaker. Daniil should be too tired to keep up with Alcaraz on July 14.

2023 Wimbledon Semifinals Round Pick: Carlos Alcaraz -222
