The chalk looks awfully difficult to beat. San Francisco throttled both the Cowboys and the Eagles this season. The only real misstep came against the Baltimore Ravens and that was because Brock Purdy threw 4 interceptions.
Purdy bounced back versus the Washington Commanders when completing over 78% of his passes and throwing a couple of touchdowns. Unless Purdy has a bad week of practice, the Niners should be ready to go.
San Francisco’s defense has had some issues. However, it remains one of the top units in the NFL. Not only that, but there isn’t a single defense in the NFC that can hang with San Francisco’s.
Second Pick to Win the 2024 NFC Championship
Choosing Detroit over the Dallas Cowboys as the second pick is all about rolling the dice on the team with the better rushing attack. Dallas is a terrific team, but the lack of a run game that can control the clock will be detrimental to Dallas’ conference title hopes.
Detroit has two fantastic rushers in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Both are incredibly quick, run with power, and catch the ball out of the backfield. When teams bottle up Montgomery and Gibbs, Jared Goff is capable of getting the ball to his receivers.
The defense gives up a lot of passing yards, but Detroit is excellent against the rush. If the Lions can escape the Rams this weekend, Detroit could be a conference contender.
Third Pick to Win the 2024 NFC Championship
Dallas is the third pick because as good as the Cowboys are, not only do they not have a rushing game, but they struggle to win on the road. Granted, they may have to play a single road game during the playoffs, versus the San Francisco 49ers.
Against Green Bay this weekend, though, Dallas will have to rush the football. Even if the Cowboys blow out the Packers it might help to keep the game on and see if the Boys have developed some semblance of a rush. Dallas will need it to win their divisional round matchup.
Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2024 NFC Championship
The Rams offense has become one of the top units in the NFL. Matthew Stafford might have the best wide receivers and tight-end combos in the league apart from what San Francisco sends to the field.
Defensive backs struggle against tight end Tyler Higbee, and both Puka Nucua and Cooper Kupp. Running back Kyren Williams is a different maker.
The defense has had its difficulties. The D has had more ups than downs in the second half of the season and should be okay in the playoffs. If Stafford and his mates can get by the Lions this weekend, the Rams become a real contender to win the NFC.
