7 Reasons Why The Kansas City Chiefs Will Win Super Bowl 58

By Hank Blaine

After an amazing performance versus the Ravens in the AFC Championship, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on their way to another Super Bowl. The Chiefs won their fourth AFC title in the past five seasons. There are plenty of reasons to be bullish regarding the Chiefs’ chances of winning another Lombardi. Check out seven reasons why the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl LVIII.

A Closer Look at Why the Kansas City Chiefs Can Win Super Bowl 58

Patrick Mahomes plays for the Chiefs

Mahomes is already one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. Versus Baltimore, Mahomes scrambled and didn’t make a throw on a key play for over 9 seconds.

9 seconds for a QB is an eternity. Plenty of times against the Ravens, Mahomes made magic. He completed 30-of-39 for 241 yards and threw a TD. But it was more about Mahomes ability to keep drives and plays alive than anything else.

The Mahomes to Kelce connection is alive and well

Before the playoffs, opponents had locked down on Travis Kelce. The problem was Mahomes was having trouble getting the ball to his wide receivers. Knowing this, defensive coordinators were passing Kelce off to the next man up.

But since the NFL postseason started, Mahomes had clicked with Rashee Rice. Opponents couldn’t just concentrate on Travis. The Ravens made a massive mistake by at least not trying to double Kelce.

Mahomes completed 11 passes to Kelce for 116 yards. The KC quarterbacks touchdown pass went to his tight end. The Patrick to Travis connection is live and well.

Andy Reid knows how to win Super Bowls

Reid was a great coach when he was in Philadelphia. But he never had the players in Philly of the level he’s got in Kansas City.

Reid has won two Super Bowls in the past four seasons. A victory in Super Bowl 58 would be Andy’s third in the past five seasons. Reid knows how to coach in the big game, which makes the Chiefs tough to beat.

KC boasts the best secondary in the NFL

L’Jarius Snead made a key play to deny the Ravens a TD in the AFC Championship. If Zay Flowers scores, the Ravens would have cut the Chiefs lead to 3 with plenty of time left.

Snead, Justin Reid, Mike Edwards, and Trent McDuffie make for the NFL’s top secondary. All four are also great at playing the run and their recovery times, the time it takes to catch up to receivers after an initial move, are fantastic.

The Chiefs rush defense stepped it up in the AFC Championship

Buffalo ran for 187 yards against the Chiefs rush defense. The Ravens, the best rushing team in the NFL, ran for 81 total yards.

KC’s rush defense rediscovered its mojo against Baltimore. We should expect KC’s rush defense to be even more stout in the Super Bowl.

Steve Spagnuolo adjusts his defensive schemes depending on the opponent

Spags game plans depending on the opponent, which is why he’s so adept at taking away something from the other team. Spagnuolo didn’t blitz Josh Allen much.

But against Lamar Jackson, Spags blitz all day. The blitzing forced Jackson to have to find rushing lanes or get rid of the ball before setting his feet. Spagnuolo gets two weeks to prepare for the Super Bowl. So his defense is going to be ready for sure.

The Chiefs can handle the pressure of playing in a Super Bowl

KC players and their coaches are great at handling Super Bowl pressure. The team won the Lombardi last season. So this will be nothing new.

Experience is a major factor when it comes to the big game. The experience edge goes to the Kansas City Chiefs.
