Why Bet on the Cincinnati Bengals?
One of the biggest stories coming out of Week 7’s slate is the Cincinnati Bengals’ surprising 41-17 rout of the Baltimore Ravens. Not only are the Bengals winners of four of their last five games, but they’ve also dethroned the Ravens as the kings of the AFC North, with 5-and-2 Cincy holding the tiebreaker over Baltimore with a similar record.
A good chunk of Cincinnati’s success comes from the former LSU high-flying tandem of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Burrow threw for over 400 passing yards this past week to go with three touchdown passes and an interception, whereas Chase set new season-high marks of eight catches and 201 receiving yards. The rookie wideout also found the end zone for the sixth time this season to lead all wide receivers from the AFC.
The Bengals’ defense has also tightened up over the past couple of weeks, limiting their last two opponents to just 14 points allowed per game. This stop unit should have no problems dealing with a New York offense lacking consistent offensive talent on all fronts.
Why Bet on the New York Jets?
Things just keep going from bad to worse for the one-win New York Jets, who were simply outclassed by the former bullies of the AFC East in the New England Patriots this past Sunday, 54-13.
Without second-overall pick Zach Wilson calling the shots on offense for the majority of the contest, New York’s already inept offense could not overcome the odds against an inspired Patriots attack.
Wilson suffered a knee injury early in the second quarter, opening up the chance for third-year backup Mike White to take command of the offense. White was just as lackluster as the incumbent starter, finishing with 202 passing yards, one TD, and a pair of INTs on 20-of-32 passing. Considering that the Jets just gave up the fourth-most points to an opponent in team history against a mediocre New England team, their defense could very well be in for another long afternoon trying to contain the nigh-unstoppable connection between Burrow and Chase.
Bengals vs. Jets Betting Trends
- The Bengals are 4-1 in their last five road games (SU/ATS).
- The Bengals have won three straight meetings against Gang Green (2-0-1 ATS).
- The totals have gone under in five of Cincy’s last six games in general.
- The Jets are 2-8 in their last 10 home games but went a decent 5-5 against the spread.
- The Jets are 3-5 in their last eight games as underdogs (SU/ATS).
- The totals have been split down the middle between the over and the under across New York’s last six games.
Bengals vs. Jets Expert Betting Predictions
Being double-digit favorites on the road speaks volumes of how lopsided this matchup between the surging Bengals and the ailing Jets is. On the other hand, New York has been pretty solid against the spread despite their actual results, making this a widely-regarded trap game that Cincinnati could fall right into to kill their sudden hype.
