Why Bet on the New England Patriots?

Thanks to a rather favorable schedule following their Week 4 loss to the aforementioned Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams have since won three in a row to improve to 6-1 for the season. Their 28-19 win over the Detroit Lions this week is just further proof that the Rams have not taken the foot off the pedal.

Los Angeles will face yet another sub-.500 team this week, as Matthew Stafford looks to continue his revitalized NFL career in the City of Angels. Stafford finished last Sunday’s win with 334 passing yards and three touchdowns, as he and Cooper Kupp connected early and often as they’ve done so for most of the season.

Kupp remains atop the NFL leaderboard in receiving yards and receiving TDs after hauling in 10 more catches for 156 yards and a pair of end-zone looks. The Rams have even held each of their last three opponents to under 20 points apiece, which is comforting news going up against another lackluster opponent in Houston ahead.

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Chargers?

Outside of the final score’s rare scorigami hit, it was another ugly game for the Houston Texans, who’ve now lost six straight games after winning their season opener. The Texans have now failed to score a touchdown in three of their last four outings, averaging a paltry six points per game during this abysmal stretch.

One can fault backup quarterback Davis Mills for hardly getting anything done right during his team’s 31-5 loss to Arizona. Mills finished with just 135 yards on 23-of-32 passing but did not throw a single pick.

However, the rookie out of Stanford did lose a fumble for a Houston offense that mustered up just 179 yards of total offense against the mighty Cardinals. Perhaps reinforcements are on the way, as the Texans’ original starting QB, Tyrod Taylor, is in line to make his return from a hamstring injury that kept him on the sidelines for over a month. Taylor played just one full game this season, and it so happened to be in Week 1’s win over the Jaguars; the Texans’ only moment under the sun thus far.

Patriots vs. Chargers Betting Trends

  • The Rams are 6-2 in the last eight road games (5-3 ATS).
  • The Rams are 5-2 in the last seven games wherein they were favored to win by seven points (3-4 ATS).
  • The totals went over in five of LA’s last eight road games.
  • The Texans are 4-8 at home since the start of the previous season (6-6 ATS).
  • The Texans have lost five of the last six meetings against NFC opponents (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in four of those six Houston games against teams from the opposing conference.

Patriots vs. Chargers Expert Betting Predictions

The massive spread for this game can certainly be covered by the potent Rams offense going up against another less-than imposing defense. Although, the return of Taylor under center for the Texans could make this contest more competitive and palatable for viewers. In turn, Houston’s backers this week could very well be handsomely rewarded for showing some confidence that the Texans will not be a victim of another total blowout with their real starting QB back in the fold.
