Best Richard Sherman NFL Moments

By Carlos Chacon

Since the turn of the 2010s, few cornerbacks have been as entertaining and prolific as Richard Sherman. Sadly for fans of Sherman, the five-time Pro Bowl selection is taking a break from the gridiron and will test his mic skills as a member of the coverage crew at Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football program this upcoming 2022 NFL season.

Nitrobetting is ready to equip its bettors with the latest news, NFL futures odds, and special features for the duration of the 2022 NFL offseason. This time, let’s take a quick look back at the five best moments from the decorated football career of Richard Sherman.

Five Greatest Richard Sherman Moments in the NFL

Winning Super Bowl XLVIII

Sherman can lay claim to the top prize in all of football, as he and the Seattle Seahawks won a memorable Super Bowl rout of the Denver Broncos, 43-8, in Super Bowl XLVIII. The former USC standout was one of the major highlights from Seattle’s star-studded “Legion of Boom” defensive unit and, as we’ll get into more detail below, Sherman certainly has the penchant for vocal boomin’ as well.

INT Leader in 2013

During that amazing title-winning run in 2013, Sherman led the league with eight interceptions for the second year in a row to earn him the second of three straight First-Team All-Pro nods between 2012 and 2014. Sherman’s best stretch was between his sophomore 2012 season and his 2016 campaign as he played in all 16 regular-season games each year whilst making two trips two the Super Bowl with the Seahawks.

Sherman vs. Crabtree

What really put Sherman’s name on the map was his post-game tirade following Seattle’s 2013 NFC Championship Game victory over heated division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. Sherman called out “sorry” Niners wide receiver Michael Crabtree on live television and proclaimed that he’s the best corner in the game.” In turn, the trash-talking defender garnered many more fans for someone like Sherman who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and with so much passion and conviction.

Making the Cover of Madden

Thanks to the aforementioned win in Super Bowl 48 coupled with his intense post-game interview the game prior in the NFC Championship Game, Sherman ended up gracing the cover of the following season’s installment of the Madden video game franchise (Madden 15). Unfortunately, Sherman and the Seahawks would eventually succumb to the notorious “Madden curse”, as he and his team would end up losing a heartbreaker to the darn New England Patriots, wherein the Seahawks would’ve likely won their second straight Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLIX has they just run the ball with Marshawn Lynch.

Fortunately for Sherman, having the gift of gab to compliment his football prowess means that his transition from the field to the broadcast booth will likely be a seamless affair. Sherman joins Al Michaels, Tony Gonzalez, and Kirk Herbstreit for pre-game, halftime, and post-game analyses during Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football coverage this 2022 NFL season. It’ll be interesting to see if whether or not the 34-year-old Compton native will pull back some of his verbal punches upon seeing some bad plays from his former peers.
