Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?

This will be the second straight season the teams play in prime-time in Nashville. They had an unusual Tuesday game last year due to a COVID postponement and the Bills played their worst game of the regular season in a 42-16 loss. Ryan Tannehill threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. Malcolm Butler intercepted two passes, the second he returned 68 yards, and both set up short touchdowns for Tennessee.

The Bills had 10 penalties for 56 yards. Three of them helped the Titans extend drives and score. The Titans forced three turnovers and converted all of them into touchdowns. Tennessee made six trips to the red zone and scored a touchdown on each of them. Josh Allen finished 26-41 (63.4%) for 263 passing yards, throwing for two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Buffalo (4-1) is the new Super Bowl 56 favorite after a 38-20 win at Kansas City last Sunday. Josh Allen completed 15-of-26 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns, adding 59 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Allen was the MVP runner-up last year and is right in the hunt again in 2021. The Bills are 18-0 in games when Allen registers both a rushing and passing touchdown. The Titans have struggled with mobile quarterbacks this season. Last year, Tennessee held Buffalo to just 16 points because they put pressure on Allen.

Buffalo leads the NFL in points scored per game (34.4) and fewest points allowed per game (12.8). Buffalo also ranks first in takeaways (15) and turnover margin (plus-11). The Bills can become first team since the 2012-13 Denver Broncos with 35-plus points in five consecutive games.

Why Bet on the Tennessee Titans?

Tennessee won easily in Jacksonville last Sunday, 37-19. Two-time NFL rushing king Derrick Henry rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns. The former Heisman winner now has five career games with at least 100 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, tied for the third-most by a player in his first six seasons in the Super Bowl era. Only LaDainian Tomlinson with nine and Shaun Alexander with six have more.

Both those guys won an MVP yet Henry remains a long shot despite leading the league in rushing yards (640), rushing touchdowns (seven) and scrimmage yards (765). Over his last 40 regular-season games, Henry has 40 rushing touchdowns and 4,792 rushing yards, the most rushing yards by any player ever over a stretch of 40 games. Buffalo has the third-best run defense allowing only 78.4 rushing yards per game.

Henry can become the first NFL player since Larry Johnson in 2005 with at least 25 rushing attempts and 100 rushing yards in five consecutive games. He would be the seventh player since 1960 to do so.

The Titans have played the past two games without future Hall of Fame receiver Julio Jones due to a hamstring injury but he’s tracking toward a return. With 13,100 career receiving yards, he needs 99 yards to pass Andre Reed (13,198) for 17th place on the NFL’s career leaderboard for receiving yards.
