Carolina Panthers 2022 Top MVP Sleeper Pick
Carolina hopes to end the trying times soon. The team finished the last three seasons with a combined 15 wins. The team started the previous season with an impressive 3-0 record. It all spiraled down from there as the team fell from 5-5 to 5-12 in no time.
This is a huge letdown for a team that recorded five wins or fewer just three times in the 24 seasons before that. Carolina going for six or more wins in 2022 is a challenge. But, the latest team updates suggest that the franchise is slated to draw a positive trend this time.

It’s Not Baker Mayfield
The hottest news that bears the Carolina Panthers’ name is the team’s recent acquisition of Baker Mayfield. While the former Browns quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner seal his name onto the potential MVP list, we feature value sleeper picks as well.
For starters, running back Christian McCaffrey imposes his presence on and off the field. His value to the team rises after going 4-3 in seven games with him. The 26-year-old registered an average of 321.0 total yards per contest. Without McCaffrey, it’s safe to say that the Panthers would have dropped to 1-9 with an average of 283.4 yards per outing. When he missed playing time in 2021 due to injury, the offensive end lacked sting and grit. But this time, we hope to see more of him and a better Carolina overall.
The defensive end gives light to Yetur Gross-Matos as a viable sleeper MVP candidate. This is a crucial season for the second-round pick after showing bursts of skill on the field. However, he is yet to find his breakout moment, picking up just six sacks and 21 hurries in two seasons with the franchise. But last season sack leader, Haason Reddick, signed with the Eagles, which might prompt more playing time for Gross-Matos.
Updated Panthers Super Bowl 57 Odds
It’s been a tough 2021-22 season for the Carolina Panthers, finishing the calendar with a 5-12 record and fourth in the NFC South division. The team also failed to qualify for the playoff, which steers their Super Bowl 57 in a rather underwhelming position.
At the time of this writing, the Carolina Panthers are +3300 to win the NFC Championship. The franchise is +1000 to win the NFC South division, while logging +6700 odds to win the Super Bowl LVII. It’s a tall order for Carolina to perform well in the playoffs, let alone secure a spot. However, the changes and the team development that adds Baker Mayfield to the equation could spark monumental changes and drive better numbers.
