A rematch of last season’s thrilling AFC Divisional Round matchup is set for Week 2, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars go head-to-head. This time around, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars will be hosting their showdown against the Chiefs in Duval, and with Patrick Mahomes and Co. reeling off a loss in their season opener.

Why Bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

It was a bittersweet moment in Week 1 for the Kansas City Chiefs, who had to celebrate their latest Super Bowl victory in Arrowhead while falling in their home season opener to the feisty Detroit Lions, 21-20. Kansas City had the lead for most of the contest but Detroit got the last laugh with a go-ahead touchdown with just seven minutes left in the final quarter.

Patrick Mahomes looked out of sync as the reigning league MVP went just 21-of-39 for 226 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and one interception. Mahomes also led his team in the rushing department with six carries for 45 yards, which goes to show that the Chiefs have still not worked on their relatively subpar running game this offseason. Lead back Isiah Pacheco was limited to just eight carries for 23 rushing yards after getting more involved in the offense last season.

It’s no secret that the Chiefs couldn’t match the Lions’ intensity in Week 1 mainly because of the absence of Mahomes’ elite-level top target Travis Kelce. Head coach Andy Reid has to be more prepared for another week without Kelce as his future Hall of Fame tight end continues to recover from a leg injury.

Why Bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars?

Facing a division rival on the road in Week 1, the Jacksonville Jaguars got the job done and secured a rather convincing 31-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Granted, Jacksonville did face a rebuilding Colts team with a rookie quarterback at the helm.

Now comes the real test for Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars with a rematch against the mighty Chiefs. Lawrence looked decent in his season debut, completing 24 of 32 passes for 241 yards and two passing scores, albeit with one pick and nearly losing a fumble on another play. On the bright side, Travis Etienne also got things going on the ground for the Jags, finishing with 18 carries for 77 yards and a rushing TD.

Jacksonville was able to contain Indianapolis to just 223 passing yards against NFL newcomer Anthony Richardson, who was also sacked four times. The Jaguars also forced three Colts turnovers in Week 1, something that this surprising stop unit must replicate against a high-flying Chiefs offense.

If Travis Kelce is cleared to play in Week 2, then the smart money is on the Chiefs to win the rematch and extend their dominance over the Jaguars. But if Kelce isn’t ready to be back on the field this Sunday, the Jags should be able to exact some revenge from last year’s playoff loss to give the Jacksonville fans even more to cheer for other than the return of live football in Duval.
