Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Straight-Up Overview

Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase is already the best quarterback to wide receiver connection in the NFL. In his second season, Chase caught 87 passes for 1,046 yards and 9 touchdowns even though he played in just 12 games compared to 17 games his rookie season.

Considering Ja’Marr missed 5 games, the drop off from his rookie year, where he amassed 1,455 yards and caught 13 TD passes, wasn’t significant at all. After two seasons, Chase has caught 168 passes for 2,501 yards, and has 22 touchdowns. Chase’s per catch average is an incredible 14.9.

Joe Burrow is throwing the ball to his former LSU teammate. Burrow has become one of the league’s best quarterbacks behind a so-so offensive line. So the huge addition of Orlando Brown Jr. to play left tackle, allowing Jonah Williams to move back to his natural right tackle position, is huge.

It’s even bigger when we consider that Brown Jr. was Patrick Mahomes’ right tackle last season in Kansas City. Better protection will help the Burrow to Chase connection even more.

Joe Mixon remains one of the league’s top running backs. So any improvement from the offensive line, and Brown Jr. should have a massive impact, makes the Bengals’ offense even more dominant.

On defense, everything starts with ends Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson. The pair might be the best in the NFL. The interior of the line and the rest of the front seven are solid. The key for Cincy’s success on defense will be the secondary.

The Bengals ranked seventh in rushing yards allowed, which is one of the reasons Cincinnati ranked sixth in points allowed per game. But the Bengals ranked twenty-third in passing yards.

Former Rams player Nick Scott is one of the better strong safeties in the league. If he improves the secondary, the defense will be a top five unit.

Cincinnati went 12-4 last season because the NFL decided to cancel the game where Buffalo’s Damar Hamlin suffered a heart attack. This season, the Bengals have a chance to go 14-3 straight up. Losses at Baltimore, at San Francisco, and at Kansas City are the only probable defeats on the schedule.

Cincinnati Bengals 2023 SU Record Prediction: 14-3

Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Against the Spread Overview

Cincinnati was 12-3-1 against the spread last season. The Bengals won’t come close to that record this season. For sure, Cincinnati will win some games against the spread, but the word is out about how good this team is.

Expect a more tepid 10-7 ATS record than the crazy 12-3-1 against the spread record in 2022.

Cincinnati Bengals ATS Record Prediction: 10-7

Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Over/Under Overview

Cincinnati games went 6-9 over-to-under last season. A similar record could happen this season because handicappers love to bet over even though teams like the Bengals rush the football well and use clock.

A 7-10 over under total record makes sense. Handicapper are going to dump on the over in most of Cincinnati’s games.

Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Over/Under Record Prediction: 7-10
