Forecasted Chubby Reign?

There’s one glaring question that the Cleveland Browns must answer heading into the 2022 NFL season: was the trade for Deshaun Watson really worth it? The former CFP national champion and three-time Pro Bowl selection is still embroiled with legal battles stemming from his numerous sexual misconduct cases, which means that there’s still a strong possibility that he’ll serve a lengthy suspension from the league.

However, with his on-going legal issues still mostly unresolved, Watson remains an intriguing talent to watch out for should he be allowed to play this season. In fact, he’s currently a (+5,000) sleeper to win the 2022 NFL Most Valuable Player award after coming off a tremendous 2020 campaign that saw him set new career-highs of 4,823 passing yards, a 70.2% completion percentage, a 112.4 QB rating, and a total of 33 passing touchdowns to just seven interceptions.

On the other hand, the Browns do have another dark horse candidate for the MVP hardware outside of Watson. Running back Nick Chubb finished the previous season with 1,259 rushing yards (second in the NFL) to go with eight rushing TDs thanks in part to his team’s solid offensive line. As such, Chubb makes for an attractive +10,000 sleeper pick to win the MVP for fans of The Dawg Pound, especially for those who are still on the fence on Watson as the Browns’ Week 1 starter, let alone the their starting QB for the entirety of the 2022 campaign.

Updated Browns’ Super Bowl 57 Odds

As of this writing, the Browns are +2,000 sleeper candidates themselves to win Super Bowl LVII. They’re currently tied with fellow division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens for having the seventh-best odds to win the Lombardi Trophy to date. Cleveland and Cincinnati also share the same odds of +200 to win the AFC North title and with Baltimore slightly ahead of the division race at +195.
