Another fascinating AFC East matchup heads our way in Week 2 as the Miami Dolphins make their annual pilgrimage to Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots. The Dolphins appear ready to keep their winning ways going, while the Patriots need all the help they can get from the home crowd in Foxborough in hopes of picking up their first win of the season this Sunday night.

Why Bet on the Miami Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins were involved in the best shootout contest of Week 1, and even better news is that they won that shootout against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road, 36-34. There were nine lead changes during that epic barnburner on Sunday afternoon, with the Dolphins getting the last laugh with a go-ahead touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa to Tyreek Hill with under two minutes left in the contest.

Tagovailoa torched the Chargers defense to the tune of 446 passing yards – tops among all QBs in Week 1 – and three passing scores. Hill also dominated the wide receiver field on the opening week with his 11 catches for 215 receiving yards and two receiving TDs. Simply put, Miami’s aerial assault is as frightening as ever with these two superstars lighting up opposing secondaries since the pairing debuted last season.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins’ defense, this side of the ball still needs a ton of work after surrendering 433 yards to Los Angeles’ equally potent offense. New England’s offense seems to have improved from last season, which could be a concern for Miami’s hopes of staying undefeated early in the new campaign.

Despite losing their season opener to the Philadelphia Eagles, 25-20, the New England Patriots can still hold their heads up high for putting up a valiant fight against the reigning NFC champions. Bill Belichick still has a ton of fight left in him, and this Week 1 loss is a testament to the all-time coaching great’s resilience.

With the Patriots struggling to run the ball, they opted to take matters through the air against a revamped Philly secondary. In turn, quarterback Mac Jones erupted for 314 passing yards, three TDs, and one interception, as Jones looks to prove that his lackluster sophomore campaign in 2022 was not the constant. It’s time for the Pats to return to the ground game, though, as LA was able to gash Miami’s defense for 234 rushing yards in Week 1.

New England’s defense also held its own against the Eagles, registering three sacks to just two from Philly to go with a pair of huge turnovers. The Pats also allowed just 170 passing yards to the Eagles, and their secondary will have its hands full once again when Tua and Tyreek come to town.
