Georgia Bulldogs 2023 NCAAF Season Betting Guide

By Hank Blaine

Like Kansas City in the NFL, 2-time defending champ Georgia will start their 2023-2024 NCAAF Season the favorite to win the title. UGA returns 13 starters, which is one of the reasons they’re such big-time chalks to take home another crystal trophy. From a betting perspective, the word is out on Georgia, meaning the Dawgs will have a tougher time covering spreads. Check out a Georgia Bulldogs 2023 NCAAF season betting guide where we make predictions for Georgia’s money line, against the spread, and over-under total records.

Georgia Bulldogs 2023 Straight-Up Overview

The Bulldogs return 13 starters from a team that went undefeated and won the National Championship for a second straight season. Among the top returners include both starting wide receivers, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, and Ladd McKonckey.

One of the best college football players in the country, tight end Brock Bowser, returns to the Dawgs. So do three offensive linemen, Sedrick Van Pran, Xavier Truss, and Tate Ratledge.

One player that won't be returning is Stetson Bennett. Now a Los Angeles Ram, Bennett is the reason the Bulldogs won the title in 2021-2022 and 2022-23. The Georgia quarterback was the engine for both teams. Without Bennett, it’s a real question if the Bulldogs had won the championship in either year.

Carson Beck will start at quarterback. Beck appears to have the tools necessary to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to at least the SEC title game.

But Beck has yet to show he has the necessary intangibles. Bennett has a will to win that few football players, no matter the position, possess. Beck may or may not have the same drive as Stetson.

Against Ohio State, Bennett carried the Bulldogs to victory. Who knows if Beck can do what Bennett did?

The good news if you’re a Georgia fan is that the defense looks solid. There’s no way it is as good as the 2021 unit that produced 5 NFL first round draft picks. It likely won’t be as good as last season’s D anchored by defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

However, the defense will be decent enough. Also, the schedule is embarrassingly easy. So the real question is how well Carson Beck performs. The schedule is so weak that even if Beck underperforms, Georgia should win 11-of-12.

Georgia won’t lose more than a single regular season game. Tennessee on November 18 is when the Dawgs fall. The loss shouldn’t be enough to keep UGA from the SEC Championship.

Georgia Bulldogs 2023 Against the Spread Overview

Georgia will face massive spreads all season. The Dawgs should also be overplayed in most games.

So unless Beck turns into Stetson Bennett, UGA won't produce a winning ATS record. Georgia goes 5-7 against the spread.

Georgia Bulldogs 2023 Over/Under Overview

College football totals are higher for winning teams because oddsmakers and football handicappers expect blowout victories. In that sense, more UGA games could go under than over this season because the offense may not be as effective as it was in 2022.

A 5-7 over to under record is possible. If Beck drastically underperforms, Georgia could go 4-8 over to under./p>
