Giants vs. Eagles 2022 NFL Week 18 Odds, Preview & Pick
The New York Giants have clinched the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs yet coach Brian Daboll says his starters will play on Sunday at the Philadelphia Eagles, who look to lock down the NFC East title and conference’s No. 1 overall seed.
The Eagles go for the season sweep as they won 48-22 in New Jersey in Week 14. Jalen Hurts threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Eagles clinched their second straight playoff berth and fifth in six years. Hurts threw for 217 yards and hit DaVonta Smith on a 41-yard fourth-down TD strike and A.J. Brown on a 33-yarder as the Eagles scored on their first three possessions. Hurts also ran for 77 yards, highlighted by a 10-yard TD scamper late in the third quarter. Miles Sanders ran for 144 yards, scored on runs of 3 and 40 yards. The Philly defense finished with seven sacks, including three by Brandon Graham. Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor threw touchdown passes for the Giants.
In the series, the Giants look for their 86th all-time win vs. the Eagles and 38th as visitors. The Giants are 25-28 in regular-season finales since 1967.

Why Bet on the New York Giants?
New York clinched a playoff spot and locked in the NFC’s No. 6 seed with last Sunday’s 38-10 rout of Indianapolis. Jones completed 19 of 24 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions and added 11 rushes for 91 yards and two touchdowns to clinch the team’s first postseason berth since 2016. Jones tossed a six-yard touchdown pass to Richie James in the second quarter, then hit Isaiah Hodgins for another six-yard score later in the same period. Jones’ final two TDs came on the ground, as he put New York up by 28 points with an 18-yard rush in the third quarter and ran in another score from 10 yards out in the fourth. Jones has already set career-high totals with 3,205 passing yards and 708 rushing yards on the campaign.
Star RB Saquon Barkley rushed 12 times for 58 yards and caught two passes negative-5 yards. The 53 total yards were Barkley’s fewest since he totaled 48 yards in a limited role against Philadelphia in Week 14. Barkley’s modest production pushed him to 1,312 rushing yards on the campaign, surpassing his previous career high of 1,307 yards set during his rookie campaign.
For now, first-year coach Brian Daboll says he will play his starters on Sunday but few beat writers believe that because there’s simply no point. Better to rest the key guys and then gear up for their wild-card playoff game, most likely at Minneapolis and less likely at San Francisco.
We’ll do what we think is best for the team and sit down and have conversations. By the end of the week, we’ll have our plan dialed in,” Daboll said. He previously was the offensive coordinator in Buffalo working for head coach Sean McDermott. When the Bills late in the 2019 season could not improve their playoff positioning they rested their starters.
Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?
The Eagles expect Hurts back after missing the past two games injured, both losses. If Philly wins, it will take the NFC East and the NFC’s top seed. A loss and it could slide into a wild-card spot. The Eagles could become the first team in NFL history to open a season 12-1 and lose its last three games. In last Sunday’s 20-10 loss to New Orleans, the Eagles scored a season-low in points and were shut out in the first half for the first time this season. Backup Gardner Minshew looked out of sorts at times and made several costly errors.
When Hurts is cleared to play, Coach Nick Sirianni expects him to be ready to go, to play as Jalen Hurts plays.
“First and foremost, we’re always going to want him to be healthy enough to not put himself at danger. That’s first and foremost,” Sirianni said, “but also so that he can perform at a high level. When you’re talking about throwing the football and an injured shoulder, it’s a little different than other injuries. He’s got to be able to throw the ball down the field. He’s got to be able to throw it accurately. He’s got to be able to throw it with velocity, so that he can be effective as a quarterback.”
Sirianni says star defensive tackle Josh Sweat is “day to day” and he’ll likely need to clear some protocols before returning in what should be a two-week rest if he misses Week 18 and the Wild Card round. Sweat, 25, is having a career season with 11 sacks. He had recorded at least one sack in each of the Eagles’ previous five games before being hurt vs. New Orleans.
