Giants vs. Eagles 2023 NFC Divisional Round Odds, Preview & Pick
It’s supposedly very tough for one NFL team to beat another three times in the same season – it can only happen when two division rivals meet in the playoffs – and that is on the line Saturday night when the NFC top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles look for the sweep of the Wild Card New York Giants.
In Week 14, the Eagles played at the Giants and won easily 48-22. Philly never trailed, starting with a methodical 8:05 touchdown drive on their first possession, opening up a 21-0 lead in the second quarter before the Giants got on the board. The Eagles led by as much as 48-14 before the Giants got a last-minute touchdown. Jalen Hurts threw for 217 yards, rushing for 77, and accounting for three total touchdowns. Running back Miles Sanders rushed for a career-high 144 yards and scored two touchdowns. Receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith each had big-play touchdowns. Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor threw touchdown passes for the Giants. Star RB Saquon Barkley was rather limited by injury.
In Week 18, the Eagles beat the visiting Giants 22-16 to clinch the NFC East and the top seed in the NFC overall. The Giants entered locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC, regardless of what happened against the Eagles. For that reason, they rested key starters – running back Saquon Barkley, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, safety Julian Love, and tackle Andrew Thomas were inactive despite being healthy. QB Daniel Jones didn’t play. Jake Elliott had a career-high five field goals for Philly. Hurts finished the day 20-of-35 for 229 yards with an interception for a 65.1 QB rating. He also had 13 yards on the ground on 9 carries. It was his first game after missing two games injured and he clearly wasn’t 100 percent.
This will be the fifth postseason meeting between the Giants and Eagles, who split the previous four evenly. The Giants won a 1981 Wild Card Game, 27-21, on the road and a 2000 Divisional Round matchup, 20-10, en route to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXV. The Eagles have the upper hand as of late, eliminating the Giants in the 2006 (Wild Card) and 2008 (Divisional Round) playoffs.

Why Bet on the New York Giants?
New York was a 3-point underdog this past Sunday at Minnesota but won 31-24. Jones completed 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns while adding 78 rushing yards on 17 carries. In leading the Giants to an upset win and the franchise’s first playoff victory in 11 years, Jones became the first QB in NFL postseason history to throw for 300 yards and multiple TDs while rushing for 70 or more yards. Barkley carried the ball nine times for 53 yards and two touchdowns while catching five of six targets for 56 yards. Isaiah Hodgins caught eight of nine targets for 105 yards and a touchdown. The midseason waiver pickup from Buffalo has now found the end zone in five of his last six games.
Why Bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?
As the NFC’s top seed, the Eagles were off last week. Philadelphia’s All-Pro quarterback Hurts will be in some pain on Saturday night, but he’ll be a full participant this week through his injury. Hurts is not worried about his shoulder being targeted by Giants defenders. “I’ve got a bounty on me every week.” Says he’s going to “play my game and whatever happens, happens.”
All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson missed the final few games of the regular season but says he’s playing. Johnson did not surrender a sack or a hit all season and has gone almost two full seasons without. Cornerback Avonte Maddox is questionable.
