Why Bet on the Vegas Golden Knights?

The Vegas Golden Knights came out on top of yet another overtime battle in Game 2 Sunday, 3-2, as they made quick work of the extra period similar to the series opener. Vegas scored less than two minutes into OT in Game 1, and just one minute and 12 seconds into Sunday’s rematch in Sin City, this time with Chandler Stephenson being the game-winning hero.

Stephenson was reprimanded by Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy when the 29-year-old center committed two early penalties to put his team in jeopardy before redeeming himself with the game-winner in the extra period. Jonathan Marchessault, who scored a hat trick in Game 7 against the second-round series against the Oilers, also had a goal and an assist in Game 2.

The Knights’ offense, which averages 3.75 goals per game (second-most this postseason), is getting the job done at the right time. Crucial goaltending performances from Adin Hill are also a plus for Vegas. Hill has won each of his last three starts allowing no more than three goals in each of those outings and his .930 save percentage ranks fifth amongst all netminders this postseason.

Why Bet on the Dallas Stars?

After giving up a late goal in the third period to Vegas, the Dallas Stars knew they were in for another scary position. The Golden Knights tied the game at two apiece and, for the second straight game, the Stars had no answers for a quick overtime goal by their opponents. Dallas is now 0-4 in OT this postseason and will look to prevent Game 3 Tuesday from going to an extra session at all costs.

As a silver lining, Dallas scored first in Game 2 and regained the lead in the second period after the Knights tied the contest in the opening frame. Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson scored those goals, as standouts Roope Hintz (playoff-leading 24 points) and Joe Pavelski (eight goals; fourth most in the playoffs) were kept in check.

The Stars have fared much better at home this postseason and will need to prevent falling into a nearly-insurmountable 3-0 series hole. Teams that have won the first two games of the conference finals have won over 90 percent of the time, which means Dallas will have to step up in front of its home crowd and go on an early scoring run and not get complacent to close out the must-win situation the team is in.

Golden Knights vs. Stars Betting Trends

  • The Golden Knights are 5-1 in the last six road games.
  • The Knights are 9-3 in its last 12 contests as underdogs.
  • The totals went over in three of Vegas’ last four games in general.
  • The Stars are 9-2 in the last 11 home games.
  • The Stars won four straight meetings against the Knights before their playoff series.
  • The totals went over in three of the last four games played in Dallas.

Golden Knights vs. Stars Game 3 Expert Betting Predictions

Given that the first two games have gone down the wire, it’s not far-fetched to see the Stars bouncing back in Game 3, especially with their record at home taken into consideration. Both teams have top-four offenses in the playoff thus far, so Tuesday’s clash should be another high-scoring affair, and with Dallas winning by more than two goals for a change of pace in the series.
