Green Bay Packers 2022 NFL Draft Best First-Round Targets

Following the shocking departure of star wide receiver Davante Adams this offseason, the Green Bay Packers still have a silver lining from that deal in the form of the 22nd-overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft courtesy of the Las Vegas Raiders. That gives the Packers two late first-round picks to work with in hopes of giving Aaron Rodgers what could be one last great run for a Lombardi Trophy this upcoming season.

George Karlaftis – Purdue (EDGE)

Many pundits are high on Purdue’s George Karlaftis as Green Bay’s top target in their mock drafts. The Athens, Greece native is actually an All-American of an edge rusher, tallying 11.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in his final season as a Boilermaker. Karlaftis is a superb fit for the Packers’ defense and taking the player with the highest upside from the No. 22 position in the first round of the draft seems like the most logical move before addressing the one obvious void left by Davante Adams.

Christian Watson – North Dakota State (WR)

Even though the Packers could realistically trade up to nab top-tier wide receivers such as Chris Olave and Jameson Williams, there’s still plenty of solid WR value to be had in the back-end of the first round. That’s where NDSU’s Christian Watson steps in. The 6-foot-4 Watson has both height and a ton of jump in his skill set to make up for Adams’ departure and should be readily available for the Packers to snag either with their 22nd or 29th-overall pick.

Jahan Dotson – Penn State (WR)

Should head coach Matt LaFleur decide that his team needs more speed at wideout, he and the Packers could go with a speedy talent instead in Penn State’s Jahan Dotson. The first-team All-Big Ten selection has a total of six touchdowns that went for over 60 yards as a Nittany Lion that will surely come off the board in the opening round of the 2022 NFL Draft. We wouldn’t be surprised if Green Bay decides to pick up both Watson and Dotson as their pair of first-rounders to solidify Rodgers’ newfoundarsenal in the passing game.
