Heat vs. Raptors 2023 NBA Odds and Preview – March 28th

By Jeff Stinger

The Miami Heat found some pace in the past week with four wins in six games. They now top the Southeast Division and are on their way to a guaranteed playoff position. Miami is tied with the sixth-seed Brooklyn Nets with a 40-35 record. If the team finds better results in the next few weeks, coach Erik Spoelstra and his crew can secure a guaranteed playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the Raptors are in a tighter position at ninth seed and will try to avoid elimination in the coming days. Toronto is tied with eighth-seed team Atlanta Hawks and will have to fend off a Bulls team trying to close in. The Atlantic Division team looks solid in its previous games with five wins in seven contests.

Why Bet on the Miami Heat?

Kyle Lowry waits for clearance after he picked up a knee injury recently. Nikola Jovic is the only other player on the injury list and is expected to be out until at least April 1. With that, the rest of the lineup is ready for action. Jimmy Butler starts the game alongside Tyler Herro and power forward Kevin Love, while Bam Adebayo plays center. Gabe Vincent will fill in for Kyle Lowry if the former Raptor sits this one out.

Miami is a more reliant team on defense. They hold the second-best opponent points per game average and limit teams to under 110 points. The team averages 48.1% opponent shooting, featuring 56.4% from the two-point and 37.1% from deep. Butler tops the team in scoring with 22.8 points per game. Adebayo and Herro are not far off with over 20 points per game, while the former leads the lineup in rebounding with 9.29 boards per game.

The Heat’s overall offense statistics include 109.1 points per game on 45.7% shooting. They’re not exactly the highest-scoring franchise right now with a shaky 45.7% shooting. Despite that, the team makes up for things on the line with a second-best free-throw shooting percentage rated at 83.2%.

Why Bet on the Toronto Raptors?

This is the last regular-season meeting of the Raps and the Heat. The four-game series is in favor of the hosts with two wins in the bag. However, a lengthy injury list might cripple their potential. Three players, including Will Barton, Gary Trent Jr., and Ron Harper Jr. await game-time decisions, while Dalano Banton and Joe Wieskamp are out until the end of the month. Otto Porter Jr. is also out of commission since sustaining a foot injury. This leaves the Raptors with a shallow lineup versus Miami.

The Raptors average 113.0 points per game on 52.1% shooting. These aren’t exactly overwhelming offensive numbers, but the Raps can hold their own on the other end of the ball. Defensively, Toronto limits its opponents to 111.9 points per game on 49.2% shooting, racking up 51.1 total boards per game.

Pascal Siakam is Nick Nurse’s top dog, with averages of 24.23 points to go with 7.82 rebounds and 5.92 assists per game. Fred VanVleet is right behind him with 19.83 points per game in 63 appearances, while leading the team in assists with 7.06 per game.

Heat vs. Raptors Expert Betting Prediction

Right when you think the Heat is on full throttle, they disappoint you. It’s a classic story of one step forward, two steps back with this team since the start of the campaign. Meanwhile, the Raptors start to peak, and that includes winning their last five games. The Raptors are reliable at home and win at an average of four points. Home advantage means Toronto holds the upper hand here. However, never disregard this Heat squad despite its erratic characteristics. There’s still a good chance this team erupts, covers the spread, and gets the W.
