Why Bet on the Minnesota Wild?

It was a heartbreaking Game 4 loss for the Minnesota Wild Sunday, as the Dallas Stars hung on to a close 3-2 win. On the bright side, Minnesota had more shots on goal than Dallas, 34-24, proving that the former can still put pressure on their Central Division rival.

John Klingberg got the scoring started for the Wild in the third period and also assisted on Frederick Gaudreau’s power-play goal to be within one goal from tying the contest late in the final frame. Unfortunately, star forward Kirill Kaprizov was a non-factor for the third straight game, as Kaprizov’s goal in Game 1 remains his only contribution on the stat board this entire series.

Minnesota needs more firepower and it’s evident that the absence of Joel Eriksson Ek in Game 4 was felt by the team. Eriksson Ek has been dealing with a lower-body injury the entire series and having him healthy for Game 5 would be a huge boost. However, Minny fans are more speculative about his return to full form just yet.

Why Bet on the Dallas Stars?

The Dallas Stars got the deal done in a must-win situation for them in Game 4, as they also proved that they can win a narrow playoff battle against the Wild. These two teams are virtually evenly matched, but for one night, the Stars proved to be the better side with its top players stepping up at the right time.

Minnesota native Jake Oettinger comes to mind as Dallas’ biggest key to victory, stopping 32 of 34 shots from the Wild as he had a terrific showing in his home state. Veteran center Tyler Seguin, meanwhile, scored a pair of power-play goals; the first was in the opening period to kickstart the scoring in Game 4 and the second was the go-ahead score with under five minutes left in the contest to give the Stars a two-goal lead.

The series now returns to Dallas, where the Stars have been exceptional of late save for the double-OT thriller of a loss in Game 1. There’s also the prospect of Joe Pavelski returning from his two-game absence due to a concussion just in time for a pivotal Game 5 clash.

Wild vs. Stars Betting Trends

  • The Wild are 2-4 on the road this month of April.
  • Minnesota is 3-2 in its last five meetings against Dallas.
  • The totals went under in five of the last seven games between these two teams.
  • The Stars are 5-1 in the last six home games.
  • Dallas have won nine of its last 10 outings as favorites to win.
  • The totals went under in six of the Stars’ last eight home games.

Wild vs. Stars Game 5 Expert Betting Predictions

With momentum, a much better showing from Oettinger in front of the net, and the home-ice advantage working in their favor, it’s hard not to count on the Stars to regain the series lead this Tuesday. Kaprizov definitely needs to get it going for the Wild to stand a chance at another road upset and we can foresee him coming up huge Game 5 but still in a losing effort.
