Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens NHL Playoffs Odds and Game 4 Preview – May 25th, 2021

By Hank Blaine

Last night’s duel in Game 2 was really close. But if there’s something to point out, it would have to be the goaltenders. Montreal’s Carey Price and Toronto’s Jack Campbell are putting on quite the show for their teams. It’s making each side have the same amount of difficulty to get the net. These two are probably the main reason any of these two teams pass to the next round. In the end, Toronto was able to hold the line just a bit more than Montreal.

Things will head to Toronto for Game 5. So this game is one that could define the rest of the series. Can the Canadiens get back on the board and tie the series? Or will Toronto head back home with just a win away from the next round? It’s time to deliver essential information in your direction. Explore important team details, key players, the latest NHL odds, betting trends, and expert betting predictions–all of which are geared towards better picks. Why Bet on the Toronto Maple Leafs?

The Leafs entered last night’s game without two of their three top centers, but that wasn’t enough to prevent them from getting the win. They are getting offense from Willian Nylander, who’s been able to score a goal in three straight games. The defense will be looking to bring a shutdown in this one, and hold the line with Jack Campbell in the back.

Speaking of Campbell, looking back at this season, he started in the latter half of the regular season, as their starting goalie missed a lot of the campaign. This was his best season so far, with a .921 save percentage, 2.15 goals against average and a 17-3-2 record. If that’s not enough, he had a .369 goals saved above average per 60 minutes. Just in Game 3, he stopped 28 of 29 shots from the Montreal crew.

Why Bet on the Montreal Canadiens?

The Habs missed many power play chances in Game 3, getting three penalties, going 0 for 3 and not shots on net for the third period. They also are 0 for 9 on the man advantage for this series. They did hold an edge in shots at 13-2, but it still wasn’t enough to take down the Leafs. The only goal from their side was in the second period by Nick Suzuki. Carey Price did a great job, saving 27 shots.

Besides Price being one of the main characters for Game 4, rookie Cole Caufield seems to be getting some attention as well. His speed could affect the Leafs lines. He scored four goals in 10 games during the regular season. In Game 3, he hit a crossbar on a power play and was able to get three shots in 15:50 of game play. He could be one of those sleepers that gets a surprise in for this one.

Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens Expert Betting Predictions

As mentioned in the beginning, the main factor for both teams are the goaltenders. The last encounter was a hard fought battle. But factors such as the offense for the Habs, this hasn’t been too good. But their defense could be the wall the Maple Leafs finally hit tonight. Everything could end in Toronto, unless the Canadiens get their act together in Game 4.
