New Orleans Saints 2022 Top MVP Sleeper Pick
Despite finishing second in the NFC South division with a 9-8 record, the Saints failed to secure a postseason appearance when the 49ers defeated the Rams and claimed the final playoff spot. New Orleans maintained a winning season in Week 18, but after missing out on the playoffs, the team is now ready to bounce back.
With this in mind, Nitrobetting recognizes the top sleeper MVP candidate for the New Orleans Saints in the 2022 NFL season. Many tend to spotlight the MVP frontrunners, but we pay respect to the names pivotal to the success of an NFL team.

A Comeback from Injury
Quarterbacks Jameis Winston (+8000) and Andy Dalton (+20000) are two of the favorites to win the MVP award for the Saints this season. But as we look deep into the roster, we find a few more candidates making their way to the sleeper list. The best of the bunch is Michael Thomas.
If the quarterback MVP trend comes to an end, the award likely goes to a running back or a wide receiver. In this case, Michael Thomas could make a run for the title in the regular season if he can overcome injury issues. His recent ankle injury ended his 2020 season and caused him to sit out all of 2021. But before that, Thomas topped records with 149 receptions in 2019, finishing his run with 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns. He registered 40 catches for 428 yards and zero touchdowns in the seven games he’s played since.
Since joining the Saints in 2016 until his third year, he was the only wide receiver in the league to produce 400 receptions (470), and his 5,512 receiving yards were roughly 400 yards short of Julio Jones’ record. In addition, his 32 touchdowns were the fifth-best record in the league at the time.
If the Saints get a healthy Thomas in the playoffs and reestablishes his 2016-2019 form, Thomas is easily the top sleeper MVP candidate this 2022 NFL season.
Updated Saints’ Super Bowl 57 Odds
The New Orleans Saints are hopeful NFC South division winners at +400. Although they sit behind the 2021 division winners, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-357), the margins look tighter between the two teams this time around.
As NFC Champions, the Saints have tougher opponents ahead of them as +1,600 sleepers. They are slightly behind the Philadelphia Eagles (+1,400) and Arizona Cardinals (+1,400) but sit well above the mid-table contenders. Ultimately, the latest Super Bowl 57 odds puts the Saints at +3,545 sleepers. These are decent numbers considering the level of competition they have to face in the 2022 campaign.
