Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?

Following their admittedly predictable loss to the Chiefs in Week 9, the Green Bay Packers pulled themselves together and put on a defensive clinic against the Seattle Seahawks this past Sunday, shutting out the visiting Seahawks, 17-0.

Green Bay’s defense has often been criticized in the past, but the team has now held three of its last four opponents to under 14 points apiece. The Packers are now third in the NFL in scoring defense (18.0 PAPG) and are seemingly in cruise control with a 3.5-game lead in the NFC North standings.

The Packers also have to thank the football gods for the return of their main man Aaron Rodgers, who had a controversial sit-out in Week 9 due to testing positive for COVID-19. Rodgers had a humble afternoon through the air against Seattle, throwing for 292 passing yards and one pick. Chalk that up as a tune-up game for the reigning MVP, who’ll now take on a familiar rival that he’s owned for most of his decorated career.

Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?

The Minnesota Vikings were embroiled in another hotly-contested affair this past week and, thankfully, they were on the winning end of a 27-20 decision on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. With a 4-5 record, Minnesota is far from out of playoff contention and will need to sustain winning their tight battles if they’re to challenge the Packers for the division crown.

Kirk Cousins had another solid afternoon under center, completing 25 of his 37 passes for 294 yards and two TDs against a strong Chargers defense. Cousins was mistake-free for the seventh time in nine starts this season, as the Vikings’ ball security has kept them competitive with their six turnovers tied for the fewest in the league along with Seattle.

Minny’s top weapons outside of Cousins, stud back Dalvin Cook and electric wideout Justin Jefferson, are still playing at a high level as well. Jefferson led his team with 11 targets, nine catches, and 143 receiving yards against the Seahawks, while Cook had 24 carries for 94 rushing yards and a trip to the end zone. Only time will tell if these standouts on offense will have another banner performance against Green Bay’s resurgent defense whilst also trying to contain Rodgers on the other side of the ball.

Packers vs. Vikings Betting Trends

  • The Packers are 5-2 on the road in 2021, including last season’s playoffs (6-1 ATS).
  • The Packers have won three of their last four meetings against Minnesota (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in each of Green Bay’s last four road games.
  • The Vikings are 4-3 in their last seven home games (1-6 ATS).
  • The Vikes are 3-5 in their last eight games as home dogs (6-2 ATS).
  • The totals went under in all four of Minny’s most recent home games.

Packers vs. Vikings Expert Betting Predictions

Rodgers and the Packers should be back on the same page after a ho-hum effort in Week 10 saw a shaky outing from the returning play-caller extraordinaire. Although, the Vikings have been very competitive in just about every game they played this season, which leads us to believe that an outright upset of Green Bay is certainly on the table.
