Why Bet on the Providence Friars?

Kansas has yet to face a team that plays defense as well as Providence. In 2 games, the Friars haven’t allowed more than 57 points. Most believed the South Dakota State Jackrabbits would beat Providence. But the Friars held the Jackrabbits to 22-of-57, 39%, from the field, and 7-of-23, 30%, from three. Providence also forced 10 South Dakota State turnovers. In their second game, the Friars pummeled Richmond 79-51. Richmond shot 40% from the field and 5% from three. Providence’s defense will surprise the Jayhawks.

Why Bet on the Kansas Jayhawks?

Kansas has a legit superstar in Ochai Agbaji. But the Jayhawks mustn’t rely on Agbaji to win games. In both Kansas wins, Ochai scored less than his average. Agbaji scores close to 20 per game. Versus Texas Southern, he dropped 11. Then in the second round, the Jayhawks’ top player scored 15. Kansas has gotten great production from players like DeJuan Harris, Jalen Wilson, and Christian Braun. Those players have stepped it up and, no doubt, will step it up versus Providence.

Providence vs. Kansas Expert Betting Predictions

This is a tough game to handicap. At times, the Kansas Jayhawks have played like a potential National Championship winning team, but in their last, the Jayhawks struggled versus Big East squad Creighton.

The Blue Jays had Kansas searching for points and almost pulled off the upset win. Still, the Jayhawks are almost 8-point favorites versus Providence for a reason. But Kansas faces one of the underrated teams in the nation on Friday.

Providence lost just 4 games during the regular season. 2-of-4 losses happened against Villanova and in both losses the Friars could have beaten the Wildcats. Nova beat Providence by 5 points in one game and by 2 points in the other. Forward Justin Minaya is one of the nation’s best defenders. He can guard one of Kansas’ bigs or contain Agbaji.

It depends on Providence coach Ed Cooley’s strategy. No matter who Minaya guards, Cooley’s squad will frustrate Kansas. The Jayhawks will find it difficult to get into a rhythm. Providence should cover the spread. The real money, though, will be made on the moneyline. The Friars win this straight up.
