Why Bet on the Baltimore Ravens?

One of the reasons so many believe Baltimore wins rings this season is because the Ravens boast both a terrific defense and a great offense. Baltimore’s D has struggled in spots, like giving up 31 tot eh Browns and 24 to the Cardinals.

But when the defense has struggled, the offense picks it up. Not only that, but the Ravens’ D can stop the rush and the pass. Against Seattle, Baltimore held the Seahawks offense to 3 points. The Ravens held Detroit’s offense to 6 points in a midseason victory.

Lamar Jackson is one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. Sure, the stats don’t say that. Lamar has thrown just 12 TD passes compared to 5 interceptions.

Jackson has thrown for just 2,4441 yards. But the former NFL MVP has also rushed for 535 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jackson means more to his team than any other quarterback in the NFL. He accounts for more than 80% of the Ravens’ offense.

Also, because tight end Mark Andrews is out for the season, Lamar will be counted on to do even more for the Edgar Allan Poes from now until the end of the season.

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Chargers?

No team has spent more on their defense than the Los Angeles Chargers. For some reason, the Bolts’ defense is a disaster.

Okay, we know the reasons. First, the players miss assignments. Second, we must question whether Brandon Staley is a good enough coach to come up with solid defensive game plans.

The Chargers have just allowed points. They’ve allowed teams to score enough points to lose games. Detroit rallied to drop 41 onto the Bolts in a Chargers loss. The Titans scored 27 in NFL Week 2 to send the Bolts to 0-2. LAC’s defense this season has been plain bad.

Justin Herbert has decent stats, but his play has deteriorated in recent weeks. Herbert now has 19 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. He’s thrown for 2,609 yards.

Again, the stats are decent, but the play has fallen off because Herbert hasn’t been able to close the door on opponents. Justin couldn’t shut the door on the Lions. He couldn’t shut the door on the Packers.

Chargers’ fans can blame the defense, but the offense doesn’t score enough to put away teams. That falls on Herbert.

Ravens vs. Chargers Betting Trends

  • Baltimore is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games.
  • The Ravens are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games.
  • The totals went over in 4 of Baltimore’s last 5 games.
  • Los Angeles is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games.
  • The Chargers are 4-8 SU in their last 12 games.
  • The totals went under in 7 of LA Chargers’ last 8 games.

Ravens vs. Chargers Expert Betting Predictions

Baltimore is -3.5, which means oddsmakers and NFL betting fans have turned their backs on the Bolts. We know this because if this game was in NFL Week 3 instead of NFL Week 12, the Chargers would be the home favorite.

Even at +3.5, LAC is a bad bet. Brandon Staley proved in his press conference after the meltdown versus Green Bay that he has no idea how to turn around the sinking ship.

Almost as important is the fact Herbert has thrown 3 of his 5 interceptions at home. So the Chargers don’t play any better at SoFi, which feels like the Rams’ homefield and not LAC’s, than he does on the road. In fact, Justin plays worse at home.

So Lamar and the Ravens throttle the Chargers’ lackadaisical defense to send the Bolts to 4-7. Back the Ravens to cover.
