Why Bet on Casper Ruud?

Casper Ruud’s bid for back-to-back French Open final appearances is still alive and strong, as the young Norwegian defeated No. 6 seed Holger Rune in their quarterfinal match. The two battled in four lopsided sets, with Ruud prevailing with a 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory for his 11th win at Roland Garros in two years.

That win over Rune was Ruud’s revenge for a loss he suffered against the Dane in the semifinal round of the Rome Masters just weeks ago. The 2022 ATP Finals runner-up now has four semifinal appearances and three final-round berths since the start of last season.

Although Zverev has a 2-1 head-to-head edge in their three meetings, Ruud was the one who prevailed victorious in their last encounter. Ruud defeated Zverev in three sets in last year’s Miami Open and will now have a slight advantage with their fourth-career match being held on clay where Ruud has a 77.4 percent winning percentage since the start of the previous season.

Why Bet on Alexander Zverev?

It seems that Alexander Zverev’s ankle injury is well behind him now, as the 26-year-old German advanced to the semis of the French Open for the third straight year after beating Tomas Etcheverry in the quarterfinal. Although Zverev needed four sets to dispatch the relatively unknown Argentinian, he’s still in fantastic form as he continues his quest for his maiden Grand Slam title.

Zverev had five tune-up matches on clay prior to his return to Roland Garros this year to lackluster results. However, the 26-year-old Hamburg native may have saved his energy for the French Open, where he’s been a tough out for three seasons and counting.

Although Ruud got the better of Zverev in their latest singles match, it was the former who was more dominant in his two straight-set victories. One of those wins came at the 2021 Paris Open, albeit with that tournament being played on the hard courts rather than on the clay surfaces similar to the grounds of Roland Garros.

Casper Ruud vs. Alexander Zverev Betting Trends

  • Ruud is 41-12 on clay dating back to last season.
  • Ruud is now 18-5 lifetime at the French Open.
  • Zverev has a 21-13 record in 2023.
  • Zverev is 30-10 in his last 40 matches on clay.

Ruud vs. Zverev Expert Betting Prediction

It doesn’t get any closer than this matchup featuring two of the ATP Tour’s fastest-rising stars. We’ll have to side with Ruud winning this in no fewer than four sets mainly due to his higher seeding and his final-round bid in Roland Garros from last year. Credit should be given to Zverev, though, for putting up a valiant fight is his first stellar performance coming back from injury.
