Why Bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Week 3 will be remembered as the tide-changing point of the 2022 NFL season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not because they lost to a game-winning drive by Zach Wilson and the New York Jets (24-20), but rather because the Kenny Pickett era has officially begun in Steel City.

Pickett was the Steelers’ first-round selection in this year’s draft and has been officially handed the starting job by head coach Mike Tomlin after his brief Week 4 performance. The local college legend out of Pitt took over struggling incumbent starting QB Mitchell Trubisky in the second half of last Sunday’s contest and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to revitalize the home crowd. However, Pickett also threw three interceptions during the loss, showing his apparent immaturity as a newbie in the pros.

With the offense still in quite a funk, it’s up to Pittsburgh’s defense to rediscover its stifling prowess. This stop unit, operating without the services of reigning Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt (torn pec), has allowed an opponent to score no more than 20 points on three of four occasions thus far. Unfortunately, the Steelers are about to face one of the most potent offenses in the NFL right now.

Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?

For the second consecutive week, the Buffalo Bills were embroiled in a battle decided by a mere field goal. This time around, though, they came out on top of a 23-20 decision over Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, who had a 17-point second-quarter lead before Buffalo rallied for a strong comeback win.

Bills star quarterback Josh Allen did just enough to pick up a huge win against a fierce Baltimore side, completing 19 of 36 passes for 213 yards, one passing touchdown, and one interception. Allen also cemented himself as his team’s best rusher, finishing with 11 carries for a team-high 70 rushing yards, along with another trip to the end zone on the ground.

Although Buffalo has been limited to just 21 points per game these past couple of weeks and after a strong 72-point scoring outburst through the first two weeks of the season, their defense has remained top-notch. The Bills D is currently tied with San Francisco allowing the least offensive yardage to opponents (234.5 YAPG), and second in the league overall, having allowed just 14.5 points per contest through four weeks.

  • The totals went over in six of Pittsburgh’s last eight road contests.
  • The Bills are 7-2 in their last nine home games (5-2-1 ATS).
  • The Bills are a perfect 5-0 in their most recent outings as double-digit favorites (4-0-1 ATS).
  • The totals went under in three of Buffalo’s first four games of the season.

Steelers vs. Bills Expert Betting Predictions

It’s hard to bet against the Bills back on the rise and salivating at their upcoming matchup against an unproven QB under center. On the other hand, we wouldn’t be surprised either if Pickett has a solid debut and reinvigorates the Steelers just enough to prevent a total blowout that’s enough to cover the current spread, and quite the massive spread it is at that.
